Kalmar Ironman weekend spam in a non chronological order 🥹

I don’t even know where to start, except… I DID IT! 🥹

The swim was challenging because of the crazy amount of people participating. I still managed to swim 1:13, and I am SO proud of that. I was constantly being pulled underwater and had to scream “DON’T DO THAT!” at fellow athletes. But other than that, the sea didn’t bother me. It was beautiful.

The bike was hard. Cycling is my weakness, and I definitely don’t have the technical skills to handle crazy winds. But I made it.
A dear fellow triathlete, , lent me her TT bike so I could even take on this race, and I am beyond grateful. Whenever things got hard, I literally got my power by pretending I was her riding that bike. 😂

After the bike, I was completely OUT. And considering my longest ride before this race had been 90 km… lol. I do NOT recommend that preparation strategy. 😂
I was dizzy, exhausted and honestly just trying to get my s**t together in T2 before starting the marathon.

The marathon went down slowly but surely. I got so much energy on my first and second laps from Marcus Kytölä , who kept the vibes high, and on my final lap Dennis kept me company and inspired me to keep moving. 🥹
I am so incredibly grateful for how amazing triathletes are and how we find strength in each other. ❤️
My stomach cramped badly from around km 18 to 31, but then something just snapped. I went a little nuts. 😂
I partied with the drunk Swedish people cheering for us (btw, the people of Kalmar are AMAZING), sang karaoke, danced my way through the streets and somehow kept moving until I reached the city.

And then I heard the finish-line crowd. There was absolutely nothing else I could do except bolt down that red carpet. I rang the bell. And cried.
“EEVI, YOU ARE AN IRONMAN” felt like the best gift I could have possibly received.

And then, to make the ending of this little triathlon dream even more perfect, I was medalled by none other than Laura Philipp 🥹

I finished my first Ironman in 15:04:12.

3 years and 8 months ago, I couldn’t even dream of this.
Today, I couldn’t be more proud. ❤️
I DID IT. I AM AN IRONMAN.

My 3rd middle-distance triathlon race: done and dusted 🤓 This time, I wasn’t going all out. Instead, the goal was to get in a long training day and enjoy the atmosphere. The reason? In just 18 days, I’ll be attempting my first-ever full Ironman. 🤯

I’m really happy with my swim (36 min) and my run (1h 13 min). I survived the bike in 3h 21 min, which I’m also pretty happy with, considering the weather was horrible. 😂 Overall, it was a great training day. 🙏 LFG!

I ran the half marathon portion of the race in the ASICS Noosa Tri 16, which has been my trusty triathlon shoe for the past two years. It never fails. 🔥
