P.S. we are also looking for workshop hosts to join us at Habitare!

July became a huge experimental month for us, with our Open Market and Kotkan Meripäivät in Kotka with Kotkan Kauppatie ry .

Open Market was not only our first outdoor event in a while, but also our first event in collaboration with major partners: Helsingin Kaupunkitilat, Torit (Helsingin torit), Vanha Kauppahalli (Vanha kauppahalli), and our long-time supporter Tempera Oy .

On the one hand, we were really blessed with the nicest weather (although we were worried about rain throughout the whole planning process), great people, and an overall cheerful atmosphere. On the other hand, it was surprisingly a huge amount of work to organise everything, definitely even more than organising our usual market. We were at the event space many times beforehand, tackling all kinds of problems, and then dealing with even more during the event. Not as glamorous as it may seem!

Kotka’s Meripäivät was our first event outside Helsinki, and we hope to travel outside the city more from now on! We brought a small-scale market there, with 8 artists changing every day. The weather was not as generous, but it was a really nice event to be part of, and we learned a lot from it.

And throughout the July, we never stopped working on the future things that are coming: our Habitare pop-up (applications open), Kirjamessut pop-up (applications opening soon), Christmas Market (applications open), our store, website updates, and more!
We really hope to show you all of these as soon as possible.

Welcome new type of post - monthly recap. Basically, behind the scenes of what we were doing! So, June:

1. Started with a huge rain - our small pop-up store was withstanding the nature together with all the participants and visitors of ODDfest
2. We went to Turku to scout for a space for FDM there, thanks Jasmin & Tuomas | American in Finland for helping us. So far still have to keep looking!
3. Filmed all the content for the upcoming Open Market on the location - our first in a while outdoor free market
4. Got the official announcement, how cool is that!?
5. Hid some tokens around Helsinki for our new activity - Treasure Hunt (read more about that in the posts nearby). What is cool about our markets, is that we are always able to try new things!

And there was a lot of work at the computers, with all the planning for the upcoming market, Kotka Meripäivät showcase, Habitare and Kirjamessut popups, and the Christmas market is just around the corner!
