UN Human Rights Pacific is pleased to join the Fiji Law Society CLE Session tomorrow June 18, with Regional Representative Heike Alefsen participating as a panelist on human rights, security, and drug enforcement.

El Niño, a climate pattern linked to warmer ocean temperatures and more extreme weather, is expected to emerge between this June and August. It could contribute to another exceptionally hot year, with consequences for billions of people around the world who depend on healthy oceans for their livelihoods, food security and well-being.


People who live with these impacts every day must be part of the decisions that affect their communities and their future. Their experience and knowledge should help shape decisions related to the environment and oceans governance. That is what human rights look like in practice.
