Entre ponçage, peinture intégrale, révision totale de l'accastillage, application d'antifouling, rien n'est laissé au hasard pour toujours gagner en performance !

Dans l'effervescence du hangar, où les journées sont intenses et le timing serré, Conrad enfile son ciré non pas pour braver les embruns mais bien les éclaboussures du nettoyeur à haute pression. Pour le skipper néo-zélandais, cette double casquette est un engagement total, dicté par le besoin de connaître son 60 pieds sur le bout des doigts avant de relever les défis de la saison sur The Ocean Race Atlantic 💥

After two months of a rigorous refit, the launch of the IMOCA Globe Series MSIG Europe is now just days away. Throughout these weeks, reliability and optimization have been the watchwords. Sanding, a full repaint, a complete overhaul of the deck hardware, and the application of an antifouling always chasing performance... Nothing has been left to chance.

In the hustle and bustle of the shed, where the days are intense and the schedule tight, Conrad puts on his oilskins not to brave the ocean spray, but the blast of the power-washer under the hull. For the Kiwi skipper, this dual role is a total commitment, driven by the need to know his 60-footer inside out before taking on the challenges of the season.

Retour sur la conférence de presse The Ocean Race Atlantic qui s’est tenue la semaine dernière à la Maison des Skippers à Lorient La Base. Un moment fort, marqué par une ambition claire.

« Je me suis installé ici pour réaliser mon rêve de Vendée Globe, mais ce sont les courses en équipage comme la Whitbread, la Volvo et maintenant The Ocean Race qui ont forgé ma vocation de marin. Après deux tours du monde en solitaire, je reviens à mes fondamentaux. C’est un nouveau chapitre : jusqu’ici, j’étais le seul Néo-Zélandais en IMOCA Globe Series. Mon objectif est désormais de me « démultiplier » en intégrant mes compatriotes pour partager cette expérience extraordinaire ! »

Une vision partagée par Joanna Kempkers, Ambassadrice de Nouvelle-Zélande, venue célébrer ce rapprochement entre deux nations qui partagent un héritage « forgé par l’océan » 🤝✨

Le rendez-vous est pris ! Dans 131 jours, le pavillon néo-zélandais flottera au coeur de la skyline de New-York pour un départ qui s’annonce épique ! 🗽💨⛵️

A look back at last week’s The Ocean Race Atlantic press conference at the Maison des Skippers in Lorient La Base. A powerful moment driven by a clear ambition.

"I moved here to chase my Vendée Globe dream, but it was crewed races like the Whitbread, the Volvo, and now The Ocean Race that truly sparked my calling as a sailor. After two solo circumnavigations, I’m returning to my core foundations. This is a new chapter, my goal is now to bring my compatriots onto the team to share this extraordinary experience!”

A vision shared by Joanna Kempkers, New Zealand Ambassador, who joined us to celebrate this bond between two nations united by a shared heritage "forged by the ocean" 🌊

The countdown is on! In 131 days, the New Zealand flag will fly against the New York City skyline for what promises to be an epic start! ⏳💥

🇫🇷 // C’était il y a 5 mois jour pour jour et l’écho de cette TRANSAT CAFÉ L’OR aux côtés de Mathieu Blanchard résonne encore pour Conrad 🌊

De cette expérience brute, aussi riche qu’imprévisible, il garde l’essentiel pour refermer ce chapitre et en ouvrir un nouveau !

L’année 2026 s’annonce une nouvelle fois intense et déterminante, mais le skipper Néo-Zélandais est déjà dans les starting-blocks 🙌🏼🔥

From this raw experience as rewarding as it was unpredictable, he’s taking the essentials to close this chapter and start a brand new one.

2026 is shaping up to be both intense and career-defining, but the Kiwi skipper is already in the starting blocks 💥

🇫🇷 // Pas de TransMartinique pour Conrad ❤️‍🩹

Parti ce vendredi, l’ultra-trail martiniquais marquait la 2e et dernière partie du double défi Sail & Trail que Conrad s’était lancé avec Mathieu Blanchard : traverser l’Atlantique à la voile avant de traverser la Martinique en course à pied.

La faute à la blessure au ménisque qu’il s’était faite pendant le Vendée Globe, pas encore totalement soignée et dont la douleur s’est réveillée ces dernières semaines. « Le rythme infernal de cette année ne m’a probablement pas laissé suffisamment de temps pour m’entraîner à ce nouveau défi. Je suis forcément très déçu, mais le corps a parlé et il faut - parfois - savoir se montrer raisonnable. »

👏 Bravo au vainqueur et à tous les finishers !

🇳🇿🇺🇸 // No TransMartinique for Conrad ❌

Starting this Friday, the Martinique ultra-trail marked the second and final part of the double Sail & Trail challenge that Conrad had set himself with Mathieu Blanchard: to sail across the Atlantic before running across Martinique.

This was due to a meniscus injury he sustained during the Vendée Globe, which has not yet fully healed and has been causing him pain again in recent weeks. “This year's grueling schedule probably didn't leave me enough time to train for this new challenge. I'm obviously very disappointed, but my body has spoken and sometimes you have to know when to be reasonable.”

🇫🇷 // De retour en piste ! 🏃🏼‍♂️

L’arrivée en Martinique de la TRANSAT CAFÉ L’OR a permis à Conrad et Mathieu de rechausser leurs baskets dans les meilleures conditions ! Sous le soleil et dans la moiteur ambiante, certes, mais sur un terrain de jeu que le navigateur et l’ultra-traileur ont eu grand plaisir à explorer !

🌿 Avec ses 250 kilomètres de sentiers balisés, sa nature volcanique, ses forêts tropicales, sa végétation luxuriante, ses rivières, ses cascades et sa grande variété de reliefs et de paysages, l’île aux fleurs leur en a mis plein les yeux… De quoi oublier un peu la douleur d’une remise en route laborieuse après deux semaines en mer et aux déplacements limités ! 🫣

The arrival of the Transat Café L’Or in Martinique allowed Conrad and Mathieu to lace up their sneakers again in the best conditions! Under the sun and in the humid air, of course, but on a playground that the sailor and ultra-trail runner had great pleasure in exploring!

With its 250 kilometers of marked trails, volcanic landscape, tropical forests, lush vegetation, rivers, waterfalls, and wide variety of terrain and scenery, the ‘island of flowers’ was a feast for the eyes... Enough to make them forget the pain of getting back into shape after two weeks at sea with limited movement!
