Back from Haworth!

I really enjoyed going back there for the second time. I'll probably come back again because it's so lovely and people are nice. I was a bit more withdrawn because of depression. I was not looking to connect with people. I needed to see nature. I live in Nice, and this city is getting more and more aggressive and full of tourists. It's getting hard on my sanity and I'm questioning why I'm staying here, being so unhappy...

I will be printing my last woodcut this weekend.

Currently printing a small edition of "I cried a river over you". I can't wait to finish it and begin something else. It's the last part of the triptych.

It took me quite some time to publish this one. I always put a lot of myself/ what's happening to me in my art. This one is not different. It's a way of taking back control of a situation that hurt me a lot. I was hard to talk about it, to the person that hurt me. So I waited a lot to process my feelings and thinking about what to do now. I did everything I could to make it acceptable (though it was not) and the person did not help at all. So I wrote him a letter, full of my guts and feelings. It's a hard one but without anger or malice, but with all my questions and pain. He did not even read it and flee at everything I asked. So I stopped doing anything towards him. It's quite a shame because it was a close friendship and it was not difficult to mend it (I really thought that in friendship you could talk about anything). I feel like what really ended this relationship is the pride of a giant ego... I'm heartbroken.

I had the time of my life in Haworth (and its surroundings). In total, we did more than 20km hikes and saw so many beautiful things: sheeps, partridges, does, grouses, pheasants and one frog.

After so much heartbreak and loss, I wanted to do a woodcut to express that. Even though I like horror movies, I can't draw bloody stuff and I prefer a less direct way to show pain.

For this print, I used the picture of an actor that played in many horror movies (but not only) : . I like how expressive his eyes are in those movies. I also recently watched Dinner in America for the first time. It was quite a bright moment, as I laughted and enjoyed this movie a lot. It also reminded me of Veronica Mars, which I watched a lot a few years ago.
For the rest of the subject, I was inspired by a photo of David Bowie, where flowers were projected on him, like a diapositive. I don't know if it makes a lot of sense. Inspiration comes in a funny way of weird association of ideas.

I tried to do a double block (with a linocut) to add some color. It wasn't a success, but I had some fun in trying. Maybe I will be good at it, someday in a distant future.

PS : If you're sad and depressed, please watch Dinner in America. It's a really nice feel good movie.
