Né à Erevan en 1975. Il vit et travaille à Erevan.
Diplômé de l’Académie nationale des Beaux-Arts de Erevan où il enseigne le dessin et les techniques picturales. Plusieurs expositions collectives et personnelles en Arménie et en France. Témoin direct des bouleversements majeurs de la fin du 20ème siècle - dissolution de l’Union soviétique où il est né, indépendance de l’Arménie, guerres, effondrement brutal d’un système de valeurs, fracture sociale et idéologique, opposition inédite d’esthétiques et de prises de position de l’artiste dans une société en réinvention, - l’œuvre de Harout est empreinte de l’historicité de son époque. Sorti d’un académisme classique rigoureux et perfectionniste dont il garde une technique remarquable, il cherche, dans les années 2000, de nouveaux appuis intellectuels et esthétiques. Son œuvre, riche, diverse aussi bien dans les matières, outils et techniques picturaux choisis-papier, toile, huile, aquarelle, crayon, pastel…que dans les sujets – portraits, paysages… est le fidèle reflet des questionnements de l’artiste qui refuse l’intellectualisation de l’art et les classifications. Il s’autorise la liberté de sa nostalgie qui le conduit à la pureté de l’interprétation notamment dans les portraits et paysages, assume son respect pour les origines de la peinture et pour sa fonction première, tout en avouant pleinement sa fragilité d’être humain et d’artiste face à son époque.

En 2025 il a été en résidence à Paris avec le projet MENK à l'Atelier 9 et participa à l’exposition collective Désordre à la galerie Lazarew Paris

Born in Marseille in 1974, Guillaume Toumanian lives and works in Paris. His participation in the Salon de Montrouge in 2003 marked the beginning of a sustained exhibition career in France and abroad. In 2005, he travelled for the first time to Armenia, the land of his family roots, an experience that profoundly shaped the memory-infused paintings that have become central to his practice. From 2010 onwards, several of his works entered the collection of A.A. Moueix. In 2017, he was awarded the Grand Prix Bernard Magrez in Bordeaux, leading to the major solo exhibition at Château Labottière. The exhibition was nourished by a series of residencies in China, notably in Beijing and Hangzhou. In 2018, he began a long-term collaboration with Samira Cambie gallery in Montpellier. From 2020, his presence on the Parisian art scene expanded through a residency at the LAccolade Foundation, the production of a series of lithographs at the renowned IDEM Paris, and his first exhibition with Galerie Lazarew. In 2023, he was invited by Numa Hambursin and Amélie Adamo to participate in "Immortelle : The Vitality of Young French Figurative Painting" at MOCO Montpellier.
In the same time group show "Mimesis" at Lazarew gallery with Axel Pahlavi, Florence Obrecht, Raphaëlle Ricol, Nazanin Pouyandeh, and Stéphane Pencréac’h. Luxembourg Art Week art fair with Lazarew gallery each years in november. At the end of 2024, coinciding with the publication of his first monograph at Éditions Lord Byron, Chapelle des Cordeliers in Toulouse devoted a major solo exhibition to his work. In 2025, solo show "Intériorité" Lazarew gallery Paris and he took part in the acclaimed exhibition "Luxe, calme et volupté" in Cannes, organised for the reopening of Art Center La Malmaison. Alongside his artistic practice, Guillaume Toumanian is the founder of MENK , a multidisciplinary artistic project initiative developing between France and Armenia with the support of the French Institute
