GIRL IN THE NIGHT wins Best Picture at Fantastic Fest 2026!

A huge moment for Slovenian genre cinema! Luka Marčetić’s GIRL IN THE NIGHT took home the top prize in the Main Competition at Fantastic Fest, the largest genre film festival in the US. Congratulations to luka marcetic and the entire team! Along its journey, the film took part in First Cut Lab RE-ACT and First Cut+ Trieste, with the support of advisors Lorna Lee Torres, Daniella Colle, Nicola Marzano, Matthieu Laclau and Naomi Levari.

And for those who didn’t make it to Texas, there are more chances to catch it soon. GIRL IN THE NIGHT heads to the Strasbourg Fantastic Film Festival next week for its European Premiere in competition, followed by the Sitges Film Festival in October.

TATINO loves Estonian Cinema! 🇪🇪

Today, Warsaw International Film Festival announced that the punk-fuelled heavy-metal road movie DIRT IN YOUR FACE, Jaak Kilmi’s new feature, will have its world premiere in Warsaw!

And what better opportunity to celebrate the five Estonian films TATINO has been working with over the past year through First Cut Lab.

Besides DIRT IN YOUR FACE:
* MORTEN, Ivan Pavljutshkov’s accomplished debut, which premiered at the last Karlovy Vary Film Festival and went on to win Best Film at Giffoni.
* O’ SLAUGHTER DAY, the absurd rural comedy by Ove Musting, coming to Estonian cinemas next week, on 25 September 2026.
* OUR ERIKA, German Golub’s box-office hit debut, a sports biopic about Estonia's legendary track cyclist Erika Salumäe, recently selected as Estonia’s submission for the 2027 Oscars.
* SOMETHING REAL, Evar Anvelt’s pulse-pounding thriller released in Estonian cinemas last March and now reaching international audiences, including at Film at Lincoln Center in New York.

Fantastic Fest kicks off tomorrow and Slovenian director Luka Marčetić’s GIRL IN THE NIGHT will celebrate its World Premiere in the Main Competition there!

After turning his low-budget comedy AT HOSTAR into Slovenia’s most-watched domestic film since independence, Luka’s back with something very different: GIRL IN THE NIGHT, a funny and tender story about two misfits finding each other in very strange circumstances. If you’re in Austin for the Fantastic Fest, don’t miss out on this one!

And he won’t be there alone: fellow TATINO-supported films DEATH HAS NO MASTER and TOO MANY BEASTS are coming along for the ride!

Slovak Pop Up 2026 projects announced!

The selection of the 8th edition of Slovak Pop Up brings together five feature projects that demonstrate both the diversity of contemporary Slovak filmmaking and a shared desire to engage with the realities surrounding us. From intimate relationships shaped by invisible inequalities to adolescence, history and the global circulation of goods, these projects approach complex subjects through distinctive and ambitious cinematic forms.
