We are pleased to celebrate the ongoing success of our former participants! Dušica Bijelić has attended the vocal program as a participant and in recent years as a guest artist. She continued to work with Maestro Ferro during her time in New York. She continues to make wonderful strides in the opera and performing arts community. Follow her journey at on Instagram!
From the Royal Opera House to leading stages across Europe and the U.S., lyric soprano Dušica Bijelić has established herself as a captivating and versatile artist. A former Jette Parker Young Artist—named by The Independent as one of the “Bright Young Things in the Arts”—she brings a distinctive blend of vocal radiance and
dramatic depth to every performance.
Bijelić has been winning over audiences since childhood, when her recitation of poetry in competitions led to her becoming a child TV star as the host of a Serbian national television program for children. Born in Bosnia and Herzegovina and raised in Serbia, she began her musical training at eight and continued her studies in Belgrade, Vienna, Rome, and New York, working with renowned mentors and participating in many masterclasses, including with Renée Fleming’s at Carnegie Hall.
A laureate of numerous international competitions, she was awarded First Prize at Career Bridges (New York), the Huang Tzu Prize in Shanghai, the Audience Prize at the Wildbad Rossini Festival, and First Prize at the Nikola Cvejić Competition, and was a finalist at the Paris Opera and Ferruccio Tagliavini Competitions.
In 2019, she began her engagement as a principal soprano at Theater Bielefeld, singing roles such as Contessa Almaviva, Marguerite, Mimì, Rusalka, Tatiana, Rosalinde, Micaëla, Zazá, Alice Ford, Blanche (A Streetcar Named Desire), Stella/Antonia (Hoffmann), and Ellen Orford (Peter Grimes). She has also appeared as soloist in major concert works including Poulenc’s Gloria, Brahms’s Requiem, and Verdi’s Requiem.
Other performances have taken her to the Royal Opera House, Teatro Real Madrid, Teatro Verdi Trieste, the Aix-en-Provence Festival, Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Opera de Wallonie, and on tour to the National Opera in Rio de Janeiro. Recent highlights include two gala concerts with José Carreras. A future project of particular note is her next production in Bielefeld, where she will appear as Leonora in Il Trovatore.

Il Palagio in Panzano in Chianti was our "home away from home" for 17 years! Monia and Franco have developed and expanded this jewel of a location over the past years. Originally the structure was a 13 Century Crusader's house with a tunnel which connected to Panzano. I, personally, hold so many fond memories of my time with Daniel which were filled with Sunday Lunches under the charming Pergola with friends and family, lazy afternoons poolside and spectacular sunsets with an Aperol Spritz.
We are thrilled to have our friends and 𝑰𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒓'𝒔 continue to enjoy the authentic Tuscan apartments and enjoy Il Palagio's superb Chianti wine and delicious cuisine.
