☄️Following ‘Ebolowa’, ‘Si Yé Yé’ and ‘Manetik’, we return with new single ‘Nsotching’: an electro-disco track whose title means “featherless necks”, an expression from Bulu culture referring to those who never take anything seriously. Contemporary disco meets punk-funk, and Parisian producer takes hold of it with two remixes, each time preserving the disco vibe while propelling it through finely filtered turbines worthy of French Touch’s finest hours, under the influence of Moodymann.

‘Manetik’ runs at 160BPM: elastic sub-bass, choppy Afro Techno and traditional Nigerian rhythms, pulling towards Afrotech, Footwork and UK Bass.

Jana Rush (Chicago) flips it twice: one straight and pounding techno, the second footwork jazz and contemplative. Simo Cell goes epic and saturated, sliced and off-centre. South African producer Mshelula completely dismantles the track into a rapped Umbhoqo version, full of drama. Azzi On The Beat, a defining force in Mara, the fast-rising Nigerian street-pop subgenre, delivers an afro techno trance and psychedelic vision.
