Happy birthday to Larry Poons (Larry Poons)! On the occasion, we look back at his most recent show with the gallery, ‘Kentucky Cols.’ at Almine Rech Paris a few months ago with a spotlight of ‘Ballroom Chassi’(2025). We then turn to his solo show ‘Larry Poons: Recent Paintings’ at Almine Rech Brussels in 2023, and his first solo show with the gallery at Almine Rech London in 2021! We end with two institutional shows in 2023, ‘Glory of the World: Color Field Painting (1950s to 1983)’ at the NSU Art Museum in Fort Lauderdale, US and ‘To Weave the Sky: Textile Abstractions’ at El Espacio 23 in Miami, US!

Larry Poons is an abstract painter known for his contributions to Op Art and post-painterly abstraction. Poons debuted with his first solo exhibition in 1963 at Richard Bellamy’s renowned Green Gallery. By the late 1970s, Poons had grown dissatisfied with the limitations of purely optical art. Today, Larry Poons divides his time between his studios in New York City and East Durham, New York. His work remains widely exhibited, notably appearing in Painting after Postmodernism: Belgium - USA (2016–18), an international traveling show curated by Barbara Rose.

The first glimpse of Joël Andrianomearisoa’s project ABÉCÉDAIRE DE NOS ÉTATS AFFECTIFS for
the exhibition of Marcel Duchamp Prize 2026 curated by Odile Burluraux and Nicolas Liucci-Goutnikov. Revealed on Friday, October, 2026 at the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris.

Born in 1977 in Antananarivo, Madagascar, Joël Andrianomearisoa lives and works across multiple territories: Paris, Antananarivo, and Magnat-l’Étrange. Andrianomearisoa expresses himself through various mediums and materials, seeking to give form to non-explicit and abstract narrations. From sculpture to installation, from craftsmanship to writing, from textile to architecture, he adopts a plural approach inspired by his Malagasy roots but also by the world and its multiple geographies. Imbued with complex emotional experiences, his work gives rise to delicate and tension-filled creations, mirroring the breaths of our lives. A series of exercises in constant evolution … continuous explorations of the materiality of emotions.

‘Picasso – Bacon. What It Feels Like to Be Human’ is currently on view at The ALBERTINA Museum, Vienna, Austria through January 31, 2027! This major show undertakes an exciting juxtaposition of the 20th century’s two most important figurative painters: Pablo Picasso and Francis Bacon.

Bacon was inspired to become a painter by Picasso’s works. Throughout his life, he would compete with him, eventually striving to surpass him. Bacon wanted to be the late 20th-century version of what Picasso was to its first half: a chronicler of being human in all of its tornness. Both of these seminal artists placed human existence at the core of their pictorial worlds. The subject they shared was the human figure – pulled apart, thrown back together, and reinvented with an unprecedented savagery. In their distorted portrayals, they elucidated pain, desire, and vulnerability, holding up a merciless mirror to the modern soul. To both, themes such as crucifixions, screams, bullfights, nudes, and the Tears of Eros revealed the drama of life itself. Although Picasso for his part was never influenced by Bacon, he followed his career very closely.

Although Picasso himself was not influenced by Bacon, he closely followed his career. About 70 key works from international museums and private collections illustrate in an impressive confrontation the similarities in the oeuvre of the two masters and Picasso‘s significance for the subsequent generation of artists.

The contemporary art project curated in collaboration with Galleria Massimo Minini continues, following Alberto Garutti and Robert Barry, with a new chapter dedicated to Peter Halley (New York, 1953).

Associated with the Neo-Conceptualist movement of the 1980s, the American artist presents a corpus of works for the spaces of Cucina spanning more than three decades of his practice and bringing together fine art printmaking, installation and digital experimentation. In this series of new works, the digital medium represents not simply a technical evolution, but a new space for experimentation within an artistic practice that began in the 1990s. The transformation of the image—from print to screenprint, from installation to digital painting—becomes an integral part of the work, as does the constant tension between construction and destruction, past and present, memory and reinvention.

Ryoji Ikeda’s data.gram [n°4] employs scientific data to convey the scales of the universe. Reflecting their mysteries, such as the ‘quietness’ of the quantum vacuum and the nature of dark matter, the sensory explosion of images and sounds invites viewers to question their place within these scales.

Through their engagement with CERN’s unique environment, the artists cast themselves as experimenters as they navigate the vastness of knowledge and confront the strangeness of elementary reality. At the heart of their work lies a relentless sense of wonder that permeates the worlds of art and science. Their compelling narratives become a means of appreciating and navigating our ever-shifting world, presenting them in a manner that both provokes contemplation and sparks the imagination.

Alongside Taryn Simon’s solo exhibition ‘Taryn Simon | Father Country I Do Love You’ at the Guggenheim, Almine Rech New York is pleased to stage a group of her recent series, Executive Orders, on view through October 21, 2026.

In the United States, executive orders are a privileged override switch by the president that accelerates change without any legislative intervention. In his first year back in office, Donald Trump signed 230 executive orders and more than 100 proclamations and memorandums. One by one, in a carousel of documents, a nation is pointed in a new direction. The objects in Simon’s photographs mark the distance between an office, a pen, an idea, and the real world – almost like an archeology of the present.

On the occasion, we look back at his most recent show with the gallery, ’Peter Halley: Recent Paintings’ at Almine Rech Monaco a few months ago with a spotlight of ‘The Machine’(2023). We then turn to his solo show ‘New Paintings’ at Almine Rech Shanghai in 2024, and his participation in the group show ‘The Echo of Picasso’ at Almine Rech New York in 2023. We end with two institutional shows currently on view, ‘L’Almanach 26’ at Consortium Museum in Dijon, France and ‘Video Killed the Radio Star: The 1980s and their Cultural Echoes’ at Musée d’Art Modern Grand-Duc Jean in Luxembourg!

For over twenty-five years, Peter Halley’s geometric paintings have been engaged in a play of rela­tionships between what he calls ”prisons“ and ”cells“ that reflect the increasing geometricization of social space. Inspired by New York City’s gridded urban plan and by his own isolation within it, he imagines the abstract shape as a barred prison cell connected to the outside world through electronic communication.

Discover ’The Tesseract’, Zio Ziegler‘s fourth solo exhibition with the gallery, on view at Almine Rech New York until October 21, 2026.

Of all his mythic inspirations, Ziegler points to one theme that has recurred across millennia at moments of radical societal upheaval: expulsion. The expulsion from Eden, for example, was a story of enmity and toil entering the world, between humans and the rest of creation, and among humans themselves. Little wonder that this iconography should be so prevalent in Ziegler’s work, with the existential questions AI and machine learning have introduced today around the future of human labor and the climate. Yet, when the garden gates closed on Adam and Eve, humanity faced both the stinging loss of eternal belonging as well as the promise of transformation. In ancient texts like the Bible, the solitary space of the desert was also a vital site for spiritual renewal. In Masaccio’s mural program (whose scene of Adam and Eve’s banishment Ziegler quotes repeatedly), a fresco showing humanity’s fall from grace had a critical place within the larger pictorial arc—as a visual prologue to the story of redemption that followed.
