Ivy - or Lierre in French - first appeared in Boucheron’s archives in 1870 and became one of Frédéric Boucheron’s favorite motifs. It featured in the first Question Mark necklace design in 1879 and has returned regularly to the Maison’s collections ever since.

This year, Creative Director Claire Choisne revisits Lierre de Paris through nine new pieces in white gold and diamonds, including rings, necklaces, asymmetrical earrings and brooches. Sculpted and articulated to follow the body, each piece captures the way ivy unfurls, climbs and wraps itself around its surroundings.

A piano becomes a canvas for one of France’s most intricate decorative arts.

For Paris Design Week, our client Steinway & Sons presents the Masterpiece Collection x Atelier Paelis, created with the Lyon-based straw-marquetry atelier founded by French designer and Meilleur Ouvrier de France Manon Bouvier-Toth.

Applied by hand to the inner lid and music desk of select Steinway grand pianos, fine strands of straw make shifting patterns that respond to light and movement. The collection brings together a centuries-old craft and Steinway’s legacy of musical excellence.

A secret garden, hiding in plain sight in Venice.

Just steps from the Fortuny Museum, a private Venetian garden is the setting for Il Giardino Segreto, an exhibition by artist Irene Cattaneo.

It is hard to tell where the garden ends and the sculpture begins. Bronze branches twist into a swing, a bench appears to sprout from the ground, and strange, luminous flowers emerge in real flower beds. Cattaneo’s sculptural world exists somewhere between nature, design and Surrealism, transforming familiar objects into something quietly magical.

New works in Murano glass bring Cattaneo’s practice into dialogue with the centuries-old craftsmanship of the island’s furnaces, timed to coincide with Venice Glass Week.

Tucked away in Calle degli Orfei, Il Giardino Segreto is open to the public through September 30.
