Everyone knows the Reese. Almost nobody builds it right.
The usual method: saw wave, crank the unison, filter it, done. Sounds huge in your headphones. Then it hits a club system, the low end collapses, and half your weight disappears. That’s phase cancellation doing its thing.
Better approach: skip unison entirely. Three mono saws, detune A against B, keep the sub clean, filter all three. Now your core is fully mono compatible.
Still want width? Add it in parallel, not in the source. A chorus and a short reverb on a separate bus give you the spread without touching the foundation.
Dial to taste and you’ve got a Reese that survives anywhere.
