The ancient Greeks believed the world’s edges were guarded by nymphs and gods who tested every traveler who dared cross their waters. Homer wrote of one such place, an island so remote, so beautiful, that a man could lose seven years there without ever wanting to leave. Its shores were said to glow carmine red at dusk, the same deep red hiding in the coral beneath its waters.

Many believe that island was Mljet, here on the Croatian coast. According to legend, it was here that Odysseus, delayed on his long journey home, was held by the nymph Calypso’s love, watching that same carmine horizon every evening, waiting for a sign that his way back still existed.

The MARNAUT Safe Harbor carries that same hope. Its dial takes its pattern from a sea urchin shell found along the Adriatic seabed, yet in white, scattered across the surface, it looks like a constellation, a map of stars only the sea could have written. Water-resistant to 100m, automatic movement, finished with a hand-stitched leather strap built to age with every journey it takes.

When Mario, the founder of MARNAUT, was a boy diving around the island of Brač, he became fascinated by sea urchins...their shape, their colors, the absolute uniqueness of every single one. The sea urchin, a seemingly simple creature, is in truth a masterpiece of symmetry, texture, and nature’s patience. Its exoskeleton, with its radially arranged spines, became the visual signature of every one of our watches, because we wanted to create something that carries the soul of Adriatic, yet speaks the language of the entire world.
