It's always important to stay on your toes when it comes to emails. We receive so many a day it's easy to just click in and "have a quick look" before moving on to the next email.
Before clicking a link, downloading an attachment, or replying, take a few extra seconds to check that the email is genuinely from who it claims to be. It might be legitimate, but it's always worth checking.
You can check:
⚠️ Does the senders email look legit or familiar to you?
⚠️ Are they trying to push limited time offers on to you?
⚠️ If you hover over the links, do they go where you expect them to?
⚠️ Are there any unusual requests, spelling mistakes, or inconsistencies that seem out of place?
So, what do you think... is this email the real deal or a phishing attempt? 🤔
Let us know what you think in the comments, and all will be revealed.

🐟 You've won a prize! Your account has been suspended! Act now!
Sound familiar? 👀
🎣These are classic phishing tactics used in emails by scammers to create panic or excitement, hoping you'll click a link before thinking twice.
Phishing is when cyber criminals impersonate trusted brands, services, or people to steal sensitive information such as passwords, bank details, or company data. Whether it's an email, text, social media message, or phone call, the goal is always the same: to trick you.
Before clicking anything, ask yourself: 🤔 Was I expecting this? 🔍 Does the sender look genuine? ⚠️ Is there pressure to act immediately?
A few seconds of caution can save a lot of trouble later.

🏆 What an incredible evening and an honour to be a sponsor at the TVA Awards on Friday night.
We'd like to say what an incredible job the Torfaen Voluntary Alliance team did to set this wonderful event up, and a huge congratulations not just to the winners, but to the finalists and all those who were nominated for an award.
We were privileged to be able to present an award this year too for the Environmental Group of the Year, so huge congratulations to Croesyceiliog Community Garden and both finalists.

🚨 Welcome to The World's Least Secure Office 🚨
Meet the team:
📝 Steve keeps all his passwords on a sticky note attached to his monitor. He jokingly calls it "the backup system".
🔗 Karen clicks every link she receives. Flash sale? Click. Missed delivery? Click. Email from a Nigerian prince? Already clicked.
⏳ Dave hasn't installed an update since 2023. Every time the notification pops up, he hits "Remind me tomorrow" with unwavering confidence.
💾 Gary found a random USB stick in the car park and plugged it into his work laptop before he'd even finished his coffee.
At this point, the IT team communicates exclusively through heavy sighs.
Luckily, this office isn't real.
(We hope.)
The lesson? Cybersecurity disasters rarely start with sophisticated hackers. More often, they start with everyday habits that feel harmless at the time.

🔐 Anonymous Security Confessions
Let's be honest. Most of us have a security story we'd rather not share…
🗨️ "I've ignored the update notifications for 4 months"
⏰ Instead, you should always update as soon as you can. They're not just adding features, but fixing security vulnerabilities hackers are always on the prowl for.
🗨️ "My password is my middle child's name"
⏰ One look at your social media will probably lead to your daughter's name being a hacker's first guess. Create a strong, complex password wherever possible
🗨️ "I clicked on what I thought was an urgent email from the bank. It was actually a phishing email…"
⏰ Before you click on an email, you must check it over: the sender, message, links, intention. It all adds up and will provide a clearer picture as to whether it is legit or not.
The truth is, security mistakes happen. The goal isn't perfection; it's learning from them and building better habits.
What's important is recognising the risk, taking action, and helping others avoid the same mistake.

🕵️ Making pins using significant dates makes them easy to remember but also easy to crack, as they can be deduced from personal information.
🤜It makes you prone to brute-force attacks and data breaches, unnecessarily putting your company at risk.
🛡️Using a randomly generated number, MFA and educating your employees are great strategies to protect your business.
✅Outsourced IT support can enhance your security, taking care of these procedures without you having to stress.

🎯 Small businesses are a popular target for ransomware because they often have valuable data but fewer security measures in place.
📧 Many attacks start with information that's publicly available, stolen passwords, or convincing phishing emails that trick users into handing over access.
🔐 Using unique passwords, a password manager, and phishing-resistant MFA (like passkeys or security keys) can stop many attacks before they start.
👀 Hackers often spend time quietly monitoring emails and business activity before launching an attack, making early detection really important.
✅ Regular security monitoring, blocking email forwarding, and keeping staff aware of phishing risks can significantly reduce the chances of a successful attack.
