🚂 Behind the Scenes at Basildon Miniature Railway 🔧🛤️

Whilst the trains have been running throughout the summer, there’s been plenty happening behind the scenes!

Our team of volunteers have been busy preparing for our Autumn Track Renewals, where we’ll be renewing whole sections of the railway and replacing the existing wooden sleepers with durable recycled plastic sleepers.

We’ve also been making use of the flat wagons kindly donated to us by Ruislip Lido Railway, preparing them for their new ballasting duties. These wagons will play an important role in helping us move and distribute ballast as the track renewal work gets underway.

This work is all part of our ongoing investment in the railway, helping to ensure the track remains safe, reliable and ready for many years of future train rides.

There has already been plenty of preparation taking place, and over the coming weeks we’ll be getting stuck into some major track improvements! 💪

🚂 Tomorrow is the last day of the summer holidays – and it’s Bank Holiday Monday! ☀️

After tomorrow, we’ll return to our weekend running schedule for the rest of September, so there are still plenty of opportunities to come and enjoy a ride before the end of the season!

☀️ TEMPORARY CLOSURE – THURSDAY 13 AUGUST

Due to the hot weather forecast for tomorrow, we have taken the decision to close Basildon Miniature Railway for the day.

The safety and wellbeing of our passengers and volunteers comes first.

🚂 We will reopen as normal on Friday 14 August, 11am–4pm. (9:45am early bird special - pre-bookable)
