What does a human rights issue look like?

Many people immediately think of courts, laws or campaigns. But human rights are also about the everyday issues that affect people's lives and communities.

Housing. Health. Poverty. Disability. Education. Arts and culture. Community development. The environment.

These are human rights issues too.

That's one of the things we love about the Northern Ireland Human Rights Festival. Every year, it brings together an incredibly diverse range of organisations, community groups, artists, researchers and activists to share experiences, start conversations and inspire action.

If you're working to improve people's lives, strengthen communities, promote fairness or protect people's dignity, we'd love to hear from you.

📅 The Northern Ireland Human Rights Festival takes place from 6-12 December 2026 and we're now inviting proposals for this year's programme.

Please consider submitting an event and becoming part of the conversation about rights, here at home and around the world.

Hi, all! We’re so deeply grateful for your support. We wanted to let you know that, at this time, we will not be accepting donations of physical items at our location tomorrow. We know many of you have been working hard to gather up items to support the community- we ask that you redirect those to some of the organisations listed above or others in your neighborhood. Thank you all for your understanding💜💜

Solidarity Rally, 1pm, Saturday 13th June, Belfast City Hall

Racist pogroms in our city last night have left communities terrified. This brand of collective punishment - targetting whole groups of people because of the actions of an individual - is racist and it must be challenged.

We have been inundated with requests to act and offers of support. We will be rallying on Saturday at 1pm and we are calling on everyone to be there.

If you want to sponsor this event please get in touch! We want to send the biggest, loudest, most unified message that we will not tolerate race riots in our city.
