GREATER SHANKILL ACT
Well done to the ACT volunteers who found these bags of drugs and passed them to the police.
Drugs are a scourge on this community, we are lucky that a child didn’t find these first! Drugs and drug dealers are not welcome in this community!
Yesterday, a member of the community handed in a quantity of suspected drugs found in the Springmartin Terminal area.
This is a great example of someone taking responsibility and doing the right thing to help keep their community safe.
We would encourage anyone who has information about drug dealing or drug-related activity in their area to come forward. Your information could help us disrupt those involved, protect vulnerable people and make our communities safer.
Anyone with information regarding drug dealing or supply can contact local police on 101, or online at https://orlo.uk/drUOU
"Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at https://orlo.uk/6mSPx

GREATER SHANKILL ACT
Today we remember Alexander Andrews and Ernest Bates who lost their lives in a sectarian bomb attack on the Four Step Inn, Shankill Road by Irish republicans on the 29th September 1971.
Our thoughts are with those who were badly injured and those who helped in the aftermath, the scenes they witnessed could never be forgotten.

Reminder of our Short Story competition for children and young people! Big prizes to be won!
ACT INITIATIVE - CENTRAL
‘Reason to Believe’
Now that school is returning, The ACT Initiative is launching today, in memory of our former friend and volunteer, Beano Niblock, 'Reason to Believe', a short-story competition for children and young people.
In tribute to the literary contribution Beano has made to the Arts, we are calling on children and young people to let their imaginations run wild and write a short story of no more than 500 words. We don't mind if it is hand-written or typed, that's for you to choose, and we will not be checking for spelling mistakes and errors in grammar.
Family members and friends will judge the entries in four categories.
Primary school children from P1 to P3.
Primary school children from P4 to P7.
Post-primary young people from YR8 to YR10.
Post-primary young people from YR11 to YR12.
There will be one winner in each category with a prize of £200 each
And one runner-up in each category with a prize of £50 each.
Now for the practical details.
Each entry should have contact details of a parent/carer/guardian, (email or phone number).
You can enter in two ways. Either by email to [email protected] or by post or hand-delivered to The ACT Initiative, 178-180 Shankill Road, Belfast BT13 2BH.
