Something really interesting has been happening with a few of our clients this year.
We originally built their software to solve problems within their own businesses.
Then other people started seeing it.
Customers. Partners. Others working in the same industry.
And the conversations changed from:
“That’s a great system.”
to:
“Can we use it?”
For us, that's where years of thinking beyond the initial brief starts to matter.
Because software built for one business suddenly needs the assurance that it can be used by many.
Can the architecture support it?
Can different organisations and their data be properly separated?
Is it secure?
Can it scale?
Can it be maintained as the product evolves?
These aren't things you want to discover you should have thought about after someone offers to license your software.
We always want to build for what a client needs today, but with an eye on where the business could take it tomorrow.
For several of our clients, tomorrow is starting to look pretty exciting.
Their bespoke software isn't just supporting their growth anymore. It could become part of the growth itself 😉🤝

One client wants AI in everything. Another doesn't want it anywhere near their business.
And we're seeing both ends of the spectrum at Code Galaxy.
Some businesses are excited about embedding AI into their software to improve reporting, communications and decision-making. Others have strict policies prohibiting its use, with concerns around data protection, intellectual property and security.
As a software development company, we're entrusted with our clients' systems, data and business operations. That means understanding their expectations and adapting our approach to suit their individual needs.
AI isn't a one-size-fits-all solution, and neither should our approach to using it be.
Just because we can use AI doesn't always mean we should.
Where does your business sit? Are you embracing AI, taking a cautious approach or somewhere in between?

Blackpool is full of young talent, but how do we make sure every young person has the opportunity to thrive?
Last week, we attended the Fylde Coast Responsible Business Network event at Blackpool FC, discussing the work still needed locally to raise aspirations, improve social mobility and reduce the number of young people not in education, employment or training (NEET).
It was great to hear about the different pathways and opportunities being created for young people across our community.
At Code Galaxy, we're pleased to play a small part through mentorship, work placements, apprenticeships, careers fairs and talks in local schools and colleges.
There's still plenty to do, but by working together, we can help open more doors for the next generation of leaders, disruptors and changemakers! 🚀

This week, we’ve been chatting with Blackpool and The Fylde College about welcoming T Level students into Code Galaxy for industry placements through to May!
From cyber security and software development to content creation, we’re excited to give students the opportunity to gain real workplace experience, build confidence and develop valuable skills for their future careers.
We are proud to be a Platinum Partner of the college and play our part in developing the next generation of talent here in Blackpool!

Celebrating the very BEST in Business across Lancashire!
What a fantastic evening at the BIBAs 2026, Lancashire’s most prestigious business awards, celebrating the ambition, talent and incredible businesses that make Lancashire such a brilliant place to live, work and do business!
At Code Galaxy, we’re incredibly proud to have been part of the judging process for the past three years, seeing first-hand the innovation, passion and determination that exists across our business community.
A huge thank you to the North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce team for organising another spectacular event and bringing Lancashire’s business community together! 👏
With Coleen Nolan hosting the evening, fantastic entertainment from Nadine Coyle and Smooth Radio adding to the atmosphere, it really was a night to remember! ✨
Congratulations to all the finalists and winners! To be recognised at such a prestigious event is an incredible achievement, and one you should all be immensely proud of.
And a big thank you to everyone who attended and continues to support, champion and celebrate Lancashire businesses ❤️

Most businesses don’t suddenly decide their processes are too slow.
It happens gradually.
A spreadsheet becomes three.
A few emails become a chain of follow-ups.
New compliance checks are added.
Approvals pass between different people, information is copied from one system to another, and the team quietly gets very good at holding everything together.
Until the business grows... 👀 and the process can’t grow with it.
At the same time, expectations are moving in the opposite direction.
Customers, employees and stakeholders expect quicker answers, clearer communication and a smoother experience.
That was the challenge one of our clients brought to us in February.
Their process covered everything from data collection and communications to follow-ups, compliance checks, approvals, planning and onboarding.
Every step was important, but together they created a journey that could take up to 21 days.
We started work in June, and by the start of September the new system was live and embedded into their organisation.
We didn’t rip everything out and start again.
We brought together proven off-the-shelf software, middleware to make the systems communicate, carefully migrated and cleansed data, and bespoke development for the crucial parts that couldn’t be achieved out of the box.
That bespoke development was the special sauce 😉
The part that made the technology fit the organisation, rather than asking the organisation to fit the technology.
The result?
A process that once took up to 21 days can now be completed in just 4!!
That means faster outcomes for the people using the service, less chasing and administration for the team, and greater capacity to support the organisation’s growth and innovation plans.
Because there comes a point when asking people to work harder or move faster isn’t the answer.
The process itself has to change.
This is the kind of software project we love - taking a complex operational challenge and finding the right blend of existing technology, connected systems and custom development to make something work better.
Not technology for technology’s sake.
Technology that removes the drag and creates space to grow 🙌

Can AI actually replace software developers?
AI can write code.
And it can write a LOT of it, very quickly.
That’s changed software development enormously. Things that once took hours can sometimes be done in minutes.
But there’s a big difference between generating code and engineering software.
Someone still needs to understand what the software needs to do.
How the different parts should work together.
What happens when something goes wrong.
Whether it can scale.
Whether it’s maintainable.
And, increasingly, whether the code being generated is actually secure.
We’re already seeing businesses build applications using AI with very little development experience. Some of what’s being created is genuinely impressive.
But faster code generation also means more code to understand, test and secure.
It’s one of the reasons we built Hacka, Ai is making it easier than ever to create software, so we need better ways to find the vulnerabilities that can be created along the way.
AI isn't making software developers irrelevant.
It's changing what being a good software developer means.

It’s National Coding Week!
For us, coding has never just been about writing lines of code.
It’s about taking an idea, a problem or even a “surely there must be a better way of doing this?” and turning it into something that works.
Since Code Galaxy was founded in 2017, we’ve used code to build software, apps, platforms and integrations for businesses across all kinds of industries.
And a lot has changed in that time.
Today, AI can write code in seconds. Tools have become smarter. Development is faster than ever.
But knowing what to build, how it should work, how everything fits together and how to make it secure, reliable and maintainable still matters.
That’s why coding remains such an incredible skill.
It gives people the ability to turn an idea into something real.
Coding is a skill that can take you almost anywhere. You can start with a blank screen and build something that changes how a business works, solves a problem for thousands of people, or becomes a business in its own right.
That’s what we love about it.
And nine years into Code Galaxy, we're still building 💜

What happens when your developer retires, moves on or simply isn’t available anymore?
It’s an enquiry we seem to be getting more and more.
A business has a piece of software that works. It might run operations, manage customers, assets, orders or internal processes.
But there’s a problem.
The developer who built it has retired.
The agency that supported it has moved on.
The internal developer has left.
Or the software has simply been sitting there for years with nobody really maintaining it.
You don’t necessarily need to rebuild everything from scratch.
At Code Galaxy, we can take on existing software and provide ongoing development, maintenance and technical support - including older and legacy systems.
We’ll get to grips with the existing codebase, understand how it works, identify any immediate risks and become the development team you can call when something needs fixing, updating or improving.
So if you’ve got business-critical software but no longer have the developer who built it, it doesn’t have to become a ticking time bomb.
We’re happy to pick up where they left off 🤓
