💡 One simple habit that could save you a £200 repair bill

If your phone or tablet gets wet, don’t plug it in straight away — even if it still seems to be working.

Moisture inside the charging port or device can cause a short circuit when power is connected. What starts as a small amount of water can sometimes turn into damage to the charging port, screen or even the main board.

A safer approach:

✅ Switch the device off if possible
✅ Remove the case
✅ Leave it somewhere dry and well ventilated
✅ Avoid charging it until you’re confident the port is completely dry
❌ Don’t use a hairdryer on high heat
❌ Don’t put it in rice

We regularly see phones where the original problem would have been relatively minor, but charging the device while moisture was still inside turned it into a much more expensive repair.

A few hours of patience can sometimes save you £100–£200+.

At iPhonefixed Cardiff, we love seeing how mobile technology keeps changing — but one question always matters:

Would you actually use it every day?

⚠️ Please take extra care when buying an expensive phone.

Today, an elderly customer came into iPhonefixed Cardiff with what they had been sold as an “iPhone 17 Pro Max” for almost £1,000.
After inspecting the device, it was clear that this was not a genuine iPhone 17 Pro Max.

It was actually a very basic Android phone made to look like an iPhone 17 Pro Max. A device of this type would normally be worth less than £50.

For most families, £1,000 is a very significant amount of money. For an elderly customer who may have trusted what they were being told, situations like this are particularly upsetting.

We strongly condemn this kind of practice！！！

A gentle reminder from our team:

Before spending hundreds — or even thousands — of pounds on a phone or other expensive product, please take your time. Speak to a family member or friend, check the seller carefully, and if anything feels uncertain, ask someone knowledgeable to inspect the device before you pay.

At iPhonefixed Cardiff, we are always happy to help check a phone or give straightforward advice.

Sometimes, five minutes of checking can prevent a very expensive mistake.

⚠️ A screen replacement should never be rushed.

We recently opened a device that had been repaired elsewhere and found the protective plastic film was still left on the back of the replacement screen.

This might look like a small mistake, but it matters. The black thermal layer on the back of the screen is designed to help manage heat. If plastic film is left underneath or over it, heat transfer can be reduced and the phone may run much hotter than it should.
Over time, excessive heat can put extra stress on the display, battery and logic board, potentially leading to much more expensive problems.

At iPhonefixed, we believe a proper repair is about more than simply fitting a screen as quickly as possible. Every part should be installed correctly, checked carefully and tested before the device is returned to the customer.

🔧 Fast repairs are useful. Proper repairs are more important.
