π Can you spot when a gap is going to be too tight?
When you're learning to drive, it's not just about reacting to parked cars β it's about forward planning.
π Look ahead
π§ Assess the space
π’ Adjust your speed if needed
π Check behind before changing position
The earlier you recognise a problem, the more time you have to make a safe decision.
This is exactly the kind of forward planning that can make a big difference on your driving test.

Can Social Media Really Cut the Cost of Learning to Drive? | BBC Radio Wales Interview.
Learning to drive is becoming increasingly expensive, so could social media and YouTube help learners reduce the cost of their driving lessons?
In this BBC Radio Wales interview, I joined presenters Catrin Heledd and Wyre Davies, along with Megan, a learner driver from Cardiff who passed her driving test first time, to discuss how learners are increasingly turning to online driving tutorials alongside their professional driving lessons.

Did you know that learner drivers are trying to cut costs on learning to drive. The BBC asked for input to the rising costs of learning to drive.
Below is the article which was released this morning across social media.
Learner drivers use YouTube to cut costs but instructors warn of risks One learner says social media clips saved her money, but there was also misinformation online.

π¦ The light is GREEN and you're turning right.
Does that mean you can just make the turn?
Not necessarily.
When turning right at traffic lights, you may still have oncoming traffic to deal with before you can complete the turn safely.
In this lesson, the learner moves forward and gets ready to turn once the approaching traffic allows.
What does a green light mean to you? π
π Do you find yourself drifting when you change gear?
It's easy to concentrate so much on the gearstick that your road position starts to suffer.
In this lesson, the learner drifts towards the kerb while accelerating and changing gear.
Get the position right first. Then make the gear change.
Did you struggle to keep the car straight when you first started changing gears? π
π A right turn done properly
Turning right from a major road into a minor road means bringing several skills together at once.
Watch the learner deal with the approaching vehicle, control the speed and complete the turn smoothly with a full talk-through.
Sometimes it's useful to see what a good turn looks like rather than only looking at mistakes.
What part of right turns did you find hardest when learning? π
π That moment your driving instructor KNOWS you didn't read the sign...
βDid you notice the speed change was coming?β
βErm... I think so.β ππ
Caught!
There's a serious lesson behind it though. Backing off earlier gives you more time to look ahead and take in important information β including changes to the speed limit.
Learners β have you ever tried to bluff your instructor like this? ππ
Instructors β how quickly can you tell? π
π Do you remember MSPSL when approaching a roundabout?
M β Mirrors
S β Signal
P β Position
S β Speed
L β Look
In this lesson, we put the routine into practice on a real roundabout approach rather than just learning what the letters stand for.
The key is starting early enough that you have time to work through each stage without rushing.
Which part of approaching roundabouts do you find most difficult? π
