Cloth Cat

21 days until the release of Planted! so we're heads down to grow final features, prune project data + w**d out bugs 😅

But! We got out this summer and it was a blast to showcase at gamescom and TOKYO GAME SHOW 🤩

You can now preorder Planted on The Game Collection Amazon Argos ao.com and more!

As we work to complete our ridiculous, competitive gardening game we thought we'd begin sharing some of the concepts and development that have gone into it's creation.

🖌️ Here are some initial sketches for the island arena and a colour blocking and lighting art pass.

We had a fantastic weekend at Kotatsu Japanese Animation Festival! We witnessed a superb selection of animated films from Japan, including Children of the Sea (2019), All You Need Is Kill (2025), Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro (1979) and Akira (1988).

The festival also featured a masterclass from CGI artist Masaya Inaba, an electrifying live performance by JERO11, alongside a captivating collection of Japanese goods, comics, DVDs and collectables to explore! Cloth Cat are proud sponsors of the festival and we'd like to congratulate Eiko on a brilliantly successful 15th anniversary for Kotatsu!

In case you missed it, the festival will also be taking place at Aberystwyth Arts Centre from 16th-18th October.

Last week Jon attended the Tokyo Game Show as part of a new Creative Wales trade mission! Wales had a strong presence in the Indie hall and Planted! was front and centre on both the Cloth Cat Games stand and the Curveball stand! Loads of attendees played the game, adding it to their wishlists and demanding the Switch version! Jon got to explore the huge halls over the three main days and got a better understanding of the Japanese market. He looks forward to returning again next year!

A massive thank you to Kathryn Wolfe-Adams, Beth Romais and Carl Plested for organising and supporting the trade mission. Also a big shout out to all the other companies and exciting games on the Wales stand. We're on the cusp of a new games revolution in Wales!

Curveball

🎉 A big gamescom for us last week! We headed there primarily to showcase Planted! as we get ever closer to release.

We spoke to around 35+ press/creators, giving the low-down on the game and its development, followed by a demo. It was great to give a sneak peak of the single player and share in several multiplayer matches, often running over after 'just one more round' - which is hopefully a good sign!

🎮 While this was going on, Planted! was live on the show floor in the indie hall. Cracking job from team Curveball being on hand to showcase two 4 player setups of the latest demo. We were on a corner and gained lots of interest, often with groups of players running around the competitive gardens.

I don't think we could have asked for a better time, and hopefully those players and media/creators will have us in their thoughts and wishlists amongst the other excellent games at the show. 😊 More news to share very soon!

We're delighted to announce that Ysbryd Yr Oerfel/The Ghost of Midwinter has received a BAFTA Cymru nomination this year! Huge thanks to Creative Wales and S4C for their support.
