I know I mentioned this last week briefly on the page.

Today marks exactly one year since this photo was taken and when I announced Esky Repair being my full-time job. 📸🎉

I did not want to take the photo as I had just been made redundant from a job I had worked for 20 years and wasn't exactly feeling up to it at the time.

I wasn't sure doing this full time was possible, I wasn't sure if I could do it, I wasn't sure if it would work.

For those of you who don't know, Esky Repair started out as a hobby for me as I enjoy fixing things. 🔧

It turned into a job I ran alongside my main job, which was working in the newspaper industry. 📰

It ended up that side job and the devices I was fixing killed my main job because nobody buys newspapers anymore! 📱😅

I never had the courage to make the jump, but it turns out the push I got last September was what I needed. 💪

I just want to say a wholehearted thank you to everyone who has supported me since going full time. 🙏❤️

Also, an even bigger thank you to Mrs Esky for putting up with me working from home and her constant help in the workshop. I simply couldn't balance everything that I have to do without her. ❤️🔧

If a job’s worth doing, it’s worth doing twice... right? 🤦‍♂️

Unfortunately, that’s how too many repair stories start. Take this PS5, for example:

1️⃣ Dropped and damaged the HDMI port.
2️⃣ Taken to a "repair expert" 😂😂😂😂 (who actually just sells v**e juice but does repairs on the side).
3️⃣ Returned with shockingly poor soldering, a disc drive that no longer reads (which upon investigation was caused by their poor work), and a declaration that it was "unrepairable."

Well, I beg to differ.

We re-repaired the initial HDMI mess bodge job, tracked down the secondary issue they introduced, and got this PS5 back to 100% working order. 🎮⚡

There is nothing handy about "handy" corner shops trying to perform even the simplest repairs between selling coils.

Skip the juice man and save yourself the second invoice, get it done right the first time.

Got a device someone else said couldn't be fixed? Bring it in.

Or an even better idea, just bring it to me in the first place. 🫰👍

You probably noticed I was closed on Friday.🫰

I was away visiting a few friends in England over the weekend and a certain tunnel digger Colin Furze made a guest appearance!🫣

As you can see from my t-shirt I may or may not have gotten wind this was happening...😂

Nice to get away from the tools albeit for one day. Back to the grind tomorrow again from 9:30am. 💪

Oh...if this gets 100 likes I might upload the video of us going around the hotel car park being chased by a Time Machine! I was lucky enough to be in the back of Colin's Hilux when this was happening. 😜

This iPad was left in today after suffering quite the smash, it's a bonded screen which means the glass and LCD is a complete unit.❌

I am able to remove the glass only and refurbish that original Apple LCD panel saving you or in this case the school a few £££.💷💷💷

Sometimes it's the small things.🔭

I'm fully self employed a year next week. In the last couple of weeks I had a soft launch of the website showcasing what services I can do and officially launched last week. If you ever saw the old website you will know how bad it was. 😂

At the weekend I had an idea to try and incorporate a shop into it and launched it on Monday.

Today we sold our first phone via the website!

Might not sound like much to some but exactly a year ago I was pretty much bricking it as to whether or not I could make a living solely doing this but that simple online phone sale this afternoon means a lot to me.

Thank you everyone who has been through my door or has recommended me anywhere.

You truly have no idea what it means to this eejit who just enjoys fixing stuff. ♥️

For those of you who guessed a Nintendo GameCube... congratulations! 👏👏👏

They truly don't make them like they used to.

After many years of faithful service it had stopped reading discs. This happened on my very own GameCube when I had a few less grey hairs so I knew exactly what it was needed which was the POT tweaked for the laser.

Now reading games perfectly and another happy customer that will hopefully get many more years service out of this retro console.
