New Project Started Near Crossgar

We’ve recently started a new job for a client near Crossgar. The project involves installing stick-on sandstone cladding supplied by McMonagle Stone with a clean dry joint finish, which will give the building a strong natural stone look.

We’ll also be installing brick detailing around the windows to add contrast and character to the overall finish.

Looking forward to seeing this one come together — we’ll share more updates as the work progresses.

Work Update – Margaret’s Castle, Ardglass

A quick update on the conservation works currently underway at Margaret’s Castle in Ardglass.

Vegetation has been carefully removed from the wall head to prevent further damage to the historic masonry. The wall heads have also been repointed using lime mortar to help shed water and allow it to run off the walls properly.

In addition, spot pointing has been carried out to areas of loose masonry on two elevations of the castle to help stabilise vulnerable sections of the structure while maintaining the integrity of the historic fabric.

These works form part of the ongoing effort to protect and preserve this important local landmark. Further updates will follow as work progresses.

šŸ° Conservation Works at Margaret’s Castle, Ardglass šŸ°

Over the coming period, we will be undertaking carefully planned conservation works at Margaret’s Castle, one of Ardglass’s important medieval tower houses.

The works are focused on protecting and stabilising the historic fabric of the building and will include:

šŸ”¹ Sensitive removal of vegetation from the walls and wall heads
šŸ”¹ Lime capping to wall tops to help shed water and protect the masonry
šŸ”¹ Rebuilding of loose and displaced stonework where required
šŸ”¹ Repointing using traditional lime mortar, allowing the structure to breathe and perform as originally intended

All work will follow best conservation practice, using appropriate traditional materials and techniques to ensure the long-term preservation of this important historic landmark.

We look forward to safeguarding this piece of Ardglass’s heritage for future generations.

A recent project in Holywood, Co. Down

We built these stone retaining walls and seating area using random rubble sandstone, paired with limestone steps to create a strong, timeless approach up to the house. Using random rubble gives the walls a natural, characterful look that sits beautifully within the garden, while the limestone steps tie everything together and provide a clean, durable finish.

A great example of traditional materials used in a way that feels both classic and practical. Really pleased with how this one turned out.
