Thermowood isn’t actually a type of tree or timber species.
It can start life as spruce or pine, then goes through a heat-treatment process. That makes it more stable than standard spruce and means it does not need the same level of protection.
Spruce cladding needs preservative treatment and a pigmented waterproof coating to help protect it. Thermowood can be left untreated, although it will gradually weather to a grey colour in the sun.
For Logspan garden rooms, you can choose spruce, Thermowood or composite cladding. It really comes down to the finish you like and how much maintenance you want to do.

The Zurich certainly does. Its full-width sliding door and opening side window help bring plenty of natural light into this compact garden room.
Inside, it has spruce walls and ceiling, laminate flooring options, electrics, lighting and an electric fire. Outside, you can choose spruce, thermal wood or composite cladding.
