The Ridge is a charity serving Dunbar and the surrounding villages in East Lothian.

In Dunbar and the surrounding villages it can be especially hard to find jobs, and to access support and training. We are 30 miles away from Edinburgh and the cost of public transport makes working and training in Edinburgh and its outskirts prohibitively expensive. The problems faced by the more vulnerable members of our community whether it be substance abuse, mental health issues, or issues arising from poverty are all exacerbated by Dunbar’s poor public transport system. The Ridge aims to provide local, effective, personalised and holistic support for local people to help them move beyond dependency towards contribution and fulfilment.

We’re excited to introduce Anna, our newest facilitator, too. And you’ll spot me easily, I’ll be the one in the corner on crutches. Come and say hello!

We are devastated to share with you the news of John Irvine's death this week. John was a Trustee of The Ridge SCIO and Chair of The Ridge Foundations CIC from 2018 until ill health forced him to step down.

He gave us his time, expertise and energy so generously. We are going to miss him hugely.

Our thoughts are with his wife Kate, his family and all his very many friends.

Details of the funeral and donations can be found here:
