A brilliant second day at !

That’s Day 2 of the Scotland Manufacturing & Supply Chain Conference & Exhibition complete, and it’s been another busy one at Stand F13.

We’ve had some great conversations with businesses from across the manufacturing and supply chain sector, covering everything from cyber security and operational technology to IT strategy and the wider technology challenges facing manufacturers.

Our Manufacturing Cyber Challenge has certainly brought out the competitive side too! It’s been fantastic seeing so many people stop by, take on the scenario and compare their scores.

A huge thank you to everyone who came over to meet the Shackleton Technologies team over the last two days.

We’re nearly ready for the Scotland Manufacturing & Supply Chain Conference and Exhibition at the SEC next week

We’ll be on Stand F13 talking to manufacturers about cyber resilience, operational technology and the practical side of keeping systems, people and operations running when something goes wrong.

A lot of the conversations we’re having at the moment are not really about buying more technology. They’re about understanding what is already in place, where the real risks are, what would hurt most if it stopped working and what actually needs attention first.

We’ll also be running our Silent Intercept Manufacturing Cyber Challenge on the stand. It only takes a few minutes, but it puts you into a live cyber incident and asks you to make the kind of decisions a leadership team could face when the pressure is on.

For manufacturers, cyber resilience can feel like a very long list of things that need fixed, upgraded, certified or reviewed. Trying to tackle all of it at once is usually where it starts to become overwhelming.

A better starting point is to understand the environment you already have. What systems are critical to production? Where are the obvious gaps? What would cause the biggest problem if it stopped working? From there, you can prioritise the things that make the biggest difference first.

That might be MFA, patching, access control, backups, replacing ageing equipment or simply getting clear ownership around systems that have grown over time.

None of it is particularly glamorous, but getting the basics right gives you a much stronger foundation than trying to chase every possible cyber risk at once.

We’ll be talking about practical cyber resilience at the Scotland Manufacturing & Supply Chain Conference & Exhibition next week, without turning it into a huge programme of work for the sake of it.
