πŸ“š Happy publishing day to Ed Armston-Sheret, whose book The Grip of the Ice is released by HarperCollins today!

The Grip of the Ice sheds new light on how the British National Antarctic Expedition aboard Discovery shaped exploration of the frozen south and British culture for generations to come. The book features fresh insights from diaries, letters, and archival material, revealing lesser-known insights from the Discovery Expedition of 1901-1904.

We're thrilled to welcome Ed in August for In Conversation: The Grip of the Ice; an opportunity to hear new stories from Discovery's first foray into the frozen South. Join us to rediscover this remarkable expedition!

Shackleton's Endurance Expedition continues to capture the imaginations of audiences across the world (including Hollywood's Jamie Lee Curtis!); with Royal Geographical Society (with IBG)'s wonderful new book gleaming light on even more photographs documenting this remarkable story of survival in the harshest of environments.

❄ With thanks to our collaborators the Falklands Maritime Heritage Trust, you can get up close to The Boss' famous shipwreck like never before at Discovery Point in Dundee this summer, viewing an incredibly intricate 3D model of the ship, created using scans of Endurance on the seabed.

Spot details like the helm, and objects stranded on the deck, bringing tales from the ocean floor to the surface.

It's our privilege to be welcoming Ed for an 'In Conversation' event in August; where he'll share lesser-known details from the lives of the crew, gathered from archival materials and diary entries from as far back as late 19th century.

Being able to hear these stories and dive deeper into the Antarctic lives of Scott's men, here at the home of Discovery will be very special - we hope you can join us for this event. Tickets are available at our website, linked below:
