📣 Would you like to help people discover more of what’s happening in Dunoon?

We’re looking for an Event Information Volunteer to join the team behind What’s on Dunoon. ✨

The aim is simple: to make it easier for local people and visitors to find out about the events, groups, clubs and community venues happening across our area.

As a volunteer, you’ll help us gather and share information about local events, while building connections with the people who make things happen in our community.💡

You don’t need to be a digital expert or have previous experience. Training and support will be provided, and we’re looking for people who are curious, willing to learn and interested in their local community. ❤️

If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, we’d love to hear from you!

What's On Dunoon now lists over 200 venues, many of them community run spaces. This event aims to provide a source of support to these venues and you get to see the stunning Ardrishaig Public Hall.

📣 Just ONE WEEK left to register!

We’re getting ready for our first Regional Village Hall Learning Exchange at Ardrishaig Public Hall — and we’ve got a brilliant day lined up! 🎉

In the morning, we'll hear from:

🌟 Christine from The Nevis Centre, as she shares how they are supporting young people in Lochaber, the many things happening in their busy hall, and the challenges of running a community space sustainably.

🌟 Ford Village Hall. will talk about their experience of engaging younger people and creating activities that work for young families.

🌟 Inspiralba’s Resilience Group, will share how they’ve built a network across community halls, around energy efficiency and resilience.

💡 This will lead on to an open conversation: what might a regional Argyll & Bute village halls network look like? And, importantly, what practical support could halls offer each other?

In the afternoon, it’s over to YOU! Our Open Host session gives participants the chance to shape the agenda and lead the conversations that matter most to them.

Plus, there will be a delicious lunch from Lucy's!

Free event, travel bursaries available, plus accommodation support for those travelling from further afield. Bursaries are limited.

📅 Register by 1 October to secure your place. https://events.humanitix.com/stronger-together-a-regional-learning-exchange-for-village-halls-and-community-spaces

Despite the rain, a group of volunteers went for a walk and litter pick last Saturday at the Bishop's Glen.

Although the Glen is pretty green and clean, there were places where litter was hiding and accumulating.

Volunteers picked up:
👉 Loads of glass bottles
👉 Drinks cans
👉 A cup
👉 Food and sweet wrappers
👉 Metal fixture and fixing
👉 A kids welly boot
👉 Signage
👉 A disposable BBQ
And more....... Anything picked up was recycled or disposed of.

☹️ Sadly, the recurring bit of waste that our volunteers couldn't handle safely was full dog pooh bags. This seems to be a bit of an issue up in the Glen.

👏 A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered. More information about future litter picks will follow soon.

✋ If you would like to volunteer in your local community and take part in practical environmental action then do get in touch with Barbara Henderson our Volunteer Co-ordinator > [email protected]

Please get in touch with Dunoon Community Council if you can help distribute copies of this important document.

📣 Volunteers needed – help deliver Dunoon’s Household Emergency Plan

We want to get a copy to every residential household within the Dunoon Community Council boundary, and we need volunteers to help with deliveries.

Could you lend a hand? Whether you can cover a few homes, a street or a larger area, your help would be greatly appreciated.
