“The year’s most exhilarating heavy album so far.”
-Rolling Stone - Top 50 Albums of 2019
“...like a more psychedelic version of the prog-metal legends (Mastodon) but with a heavy-rock punch, bringing in some stoner-metal riffs to their groovy prog madness. Even though clean vocals are plentiful in their music, they have a bite that hits just as hard as their instruments.”
-Alternative Press - Top 20 Rising Metal Bands (Moon Tooth @ #8)
"The Long Island prog-metal band bursts with enthusiasm and rabid energy, as if Mastodon's apocalyptic visions were replaced with cosmic wonder."
–Pitchfork (2019)
“Groove-laden... Rife with frustration, riffs and a celebratory, soaring overtone..."
–Revolver (2019)
“Moon Tooth walk that perfect line between metal and hard rock that is truly destructive.” -Kerrang! (2019)
“Arguably one of the most original metal bands out there right now… insane riffs, confusing rhythms and more catchiness than you're going to be able to stuff into your head to hum under your breath all day.” -Metal Injection (2019)
"Electrifying, bluesy, and highly original progressive metal... Walking the line between challenging and accessible... This is one of the best progressive records of the decade. Get on it."
–Invisible Oranges (2019)
“...combines visceral harmonies, punkish verve, funkish boogie, throbbing aggression, and arena-rock-worthy hooks to create something unique and instantly memorable.” -MetalSucks (2019)
"As with 'Chromaparagon' before it, 'Crux' is technically brilliant, with all musicians delivering intricate and meticulously played parts... Moon Tooth's stirring energy and optimism are incredibly infectious. Densely packed but never overdone, 'Crux' is an inspiring and uplifting distillation of modern rock."
–Echoes and Dust (2019)
"Spearheaded by Nick Lee's pyrotechnic guitar work and John Carbone's bottle rocket vox, 'Crux' comes across like Torche hopped up on trucker pills and John Petrucci guitar DVDs..."
–Free Williamsburg (2019)
"Razor-edged hard rock/metal that is as aggressive as it is memorable."
–Nine Circles (2019)
“To say that Moon Tooth outdid themselves with Crux is an understatement. They managed to deepen their sound while simultaneously condensing it and making it more accessible. It’s easy to see people who think that “rock n’ roll” died long ago listening to this and feeling rejuvenated.” -Heavy Blog Is Heavy (2019)
“This band is pouring everything they have into making a name for themselves and it shows on Crux. There’s not a single thing I dislike about these 43 minutes and I can’t stop listening to it.”-Toilet Ov Hell (2019)
“Looking into the blends of sounds they achieve is awe-inspiring, even more so when you consider it’s all achieved with relatively conventional means, no gimmicks needed. If you have a fe**sh for fun, and an ear for catchy melody that never relents, this is the album for you.” -Everything Is Noise (2019)
"Crux is truly a work of art."
–Audioeclectica (2019)

Nick and Ray got the opportunity to demo the new MXR EVH Modern High Gain pedal with some riffs from the new Moon Tooth - ‘Bastard’ EP

Nick is ripping his GV Rock with Pickups through his DR103 through a 4x12. Ray is messing with the settings on the Modern High Gain pedal to show some of the versatility of the pedal which is more of a pre-amp than just an OD and has a lot of cool abilities.

It’s 3am, you awake in the back of the van in only god knows where. The ache in your back, and the aftertaste of tequila tells you the show earlier went awesome. You peer to the front, this song is blasting and is playing air drums and eating a hotdog while going 80 mph. Your life is in hands. You feel a warm sensation as comfort as you drift back to sleep.
Ladies and gentleman, please wish the wonderful, colorful, psychotic, loving human being that is John Carbone a very Happy Birthday. Please honor him by drinking whisky and playing your favorite blues record today.

“LIVE, ONE TAKE, NO TRIGGERS, NO EDITS, NO CUTS, NO MIXING, NO METRONOME, NO BREAKFAST, NO CHILDHOOD, NO TRAINING, NO LEGS, NO ARMS, JUST RAW DRUMS.
For real... I added some new drum fills and I had fun with this one, I think you will too.”-Ray
