Windsor Developments

Three bathrooms. Three completely different personalities. Which one are you choosing?

One of our favourite things about this project was that there was no attempt to make every room match.

Each bathroom was given its own identity, from bold colour and traditional panelling to marble-effect finishes, brass details and some brilliant wallpaper choices.

Look a little closer and you’ll find subtle nods to Scotland throughout. The tartan is probably the most obvious, but we love how those references have been used without the rooms feeling themed.

Individual, characterful and designed specifically for the home they belong in.

There’s a little magic in a home as the seasons turn. 🍁✨

As the early evening light fades, this room takes on a different feel. The rich grain of the timber, the soft textures and the amber glow of the wh**ky collection… every detail feels a little warmer & a little more inviting.

You can already imagine the evenings to come. A fire lit, the rain against the windows, a favourite dram poured. Conversations that carry on long after someone says they really should be heading home.

With autumn settling in and winter still to come, this is a room ready to be lived in, gathered in and thoroughly enjoyed.

One of the loveliest parts of revisiting our projects is seeing how a house becomes a home through every season. 🤎

Choosing who works on your home is a big decision.

Particularly when the project involves months of work, significant investment and a team becoming part of your everyday life.

We know the finished result matters but so does everything that happens before you get there.

Turning up.
Communicating properly.
Solving problems.
Respecting your home.
And caring about the details you’ll probably never see once the job is finished.

That’s the standard we’ve built Windsor around.

If you’re planning a renovation, extension or period restoration in Edinburgh or the Lothians, we’d be very happy to have a conversation.

The most important work in your home is often the work you’ll never see.

Beneath the finished floor sits all the preparation, planning and workmanship that eventually disappears completely from view.

That's the point. 💡

A beautifully finished home isn’t just about what you can see. It’s about getting everything underneath it right too.

The finish gets noticed.
The work underneath is what makes the difference.

A few of the kitchens we’ve had the pleasure of bringing to life over the years.

Different homes. Different styles. The same attention to detail.

Over the years, we’ve created kitchens for all kinds of homes, each designed around the people who live there.

For many of us, the kitchen is the space where most of life happens. Where family gathers, friends pull up a chair and far more than cooking takes place.

That’s why the details matter.

From bespoke joinery and carefully considered storage to the finishes you see and the details you don’t, everything has to work beautifully as well as look the part.

Monday morning. Back to it.

A new week, a busy schedule and the team out across Edinburgh and East Lothian.

There’s a lot happening behind the scenes at Windsor at the moment, with projects at very different stages. From the first day on site to the final details, it’s the same approach throughout.

Good people. Good workmanship. And doing things properly.

The best joinery doesn’t need to shout for attention.

It should feel like it was always meant to be there.

There’s so much we love about this room. The bespoke joinery, the warmth of the timber, the rich bronze and charcoal tones and the softer fabrics that bring everything together.

And then there’s the setting.

Settle into one of these seats on a Sunday afternoon and you can look out towards Loch Lomond.

A pretty special place to switch off.

A project we completed two years ago and one we still love.

Originally, our clients thought they needed a larger extension but after looking at the house properly, Mary Carslaw advised against it.

The additional space would have come at the expense of the garden and with some clever internal changes, simply wasn’t necessary.

This is when a great architect is worth their weight in gold.

Instead, the existing extension was completely rethought.

Working alongside Mary, Dean coordinated the build and the specialist trades to bring the design together.

One thing the clients were certain about was the zinc cladding. Keith at Paneltech Scotland Ltd delivered the exterior in VM Anthra standing seam, with the windows framed in VM Pigmento Red.

Against the original Edinburgh sandstone it completely changed the look of the existing extension.

Two years on, it’s still a project we love.

Sometimes the best way to improve a home isn’t to make it bigger. It’s to make the space you already have work better.

We can tell you what it’s like to work with Windsor but our clients probably say it better.

We’re incredibly fortunate that so much of our work comes through recommendations and returning clients.

Thank you to the clients who have trusted Dean and the team with their homes and taken the time to put their experience into words.

The bedroom is often the last room people think about.

Most of the focus naturally goes into the kitchen or the living space where family and friends gather.

But the bedroom is the one room that’s just for YOU.

It’s where every day begins.

And where every day ends.

We love bringing our clients’ ideas to life, especially when they have a clear vision for interiors and every room has been considered with the same care and attention.

Because the best homes aren’t defined by the rooms your guests see.

They’re defined by how they make you feel every single day.
