Over the past four weeks, a group of young people aged 15 - 19 from Impact Arts have been working with Talbot Rice Gallery to create an exhibition in response to AnneHardy’s work ✨

The project has culminated in a mini exhibition, All Seeing I, which is open to the public today from 1 – 3pm in our Round Room 👁️

These sessions are designed to prioritise the sensory needs of autistic people, other neurodivergent people, those with additional sensory support needs, or anyone else who may prefer a more relaxed experience of the gallery 🤗

🎧 Sensory kits are available, containing: a stress ball, ear defenders, a traffic light fan, a fidget toy, a magnifying glass torch and an emotion fan

🗺️ A visual storyboard and sensory map helps you navigate the gallery and highlights any elements that may impact your sensory experience

British Irish artist Anne Hardy has transformed Talbot Rice Gallery's iconic Georgian Gallery into a new installation, illuminated by flickering light sculptures and a newly commissioned sonic landscape. A series of sculptural "beings" inhabit a world where communication is imagined as something transmitted through gesture, material, vibration and energy.

📣 Anne Hardy’s solo exhibition is now open!

British artist annehardy has transformed Talbot Rice Gallery’s iconic Georgian Gallery into a new installation entitled ‘Feelings’. Throughout the exhibition, Hardy considers the growing presence of artificial intelligence and a changing climate in everyday life, while reflecting on the intuitive knowledge, instincts and experiences that have shaped human existence over millennia.

Newly created for this exhibition, a group of enigmatic figures, ‘beings’, inhabit the space. Charged with presence, they embody both the inherited wisdom of ancient ritual and the uncertain impact of emerging technology.

A newly commissioned soundscape fills the gallery with traces of an evolving world. Fragments of wind moving through dry grasses, rain striking concrete and distant birdsong are combined with electric signals, shifting frequencies and synthetic tones. The installation is illuminated by flickering light sculptures, with movement activated by weather data received from Marfa, a city in the high desert of West Texas where Hardy first developed the sculptures that evolved into this body of work.

Presented in association with Edinburgh International Festival and forming part of Edinburgh Art Festival’s programme.

We are delighted to announce Anne Hardy’s solo exhibition open from Saturday 27 June ✨✨✨

British artist Anne Hardy has transformed our iconic Georgian Gallery into a new installation entitled Feelings. Known for her pioneering approach to exhibition-making, Hardy treats the gallery as a found object, extending the influence of sculpture into the fabric of the gallery through light, sound, and data creating an active environment for a series of sculptural “beings”.

Through subtle scenography and immersive spatial composition, we encounter a world that is, in Hardy’s words, “sentient” – responsive, reverent and alive with energy.

Erasure held like a fierce lantern

“Kang Seung Lee’s work transforms loss and invisibility into a strategy for recollection. Often beginning with archival research, his drawings, watercolours, embroideries and installations create conversations with overlooked, deceased artists and with sites where communities, including q***r communities, have historically gathered.

Lee has extended his research to Edinburgh, featuring new works based on photographs of significant q***r sites across the city. Erasure held like a fierce lantern layers global and local q***r histories to represent forms of existence that exceed identity politics.”
