Our penultimate Own A Pony day has been another full on day!

A first day at the office for Macduff who exceeded all expectations, some leg washing for Dennis and Watson, some fun games and races and then a plaiting competition because who doesn’t love a little competition!

It’s official! Macduff is a Drum boy ☺️🥳

We are so excited to announce that Saturday volunteer Nicki Mearns has been selected for this years RDA Presidents Award!

Nicki has been with us here at the Drum for 39 years! That’s almost as long as Ena!

There isn’t anyone that is as deserving of this award as Nicki. She is a stalwart of the Drum and is a great mentor for all our new volunteers.

We would also like to extend our congratulations to the other recipients from our region - Lynda and Frances - who again are very worthy winners!

After a busy morning we are so excited to say that Macduff can now start joining in our RDA sessions! He did a brilliant job in his assessment and really showed how willing and able he is to try ☺️

It’s time for the rescheduled Gilmerton Show! 🥳

After having to cancel back in June we are now ready for to go again with an autumn show with the same summer vibes and same fun classes for everyone ☀️🍁🍂

We are currently awaiting confirmation on judges which will be updated as soon as possible but for now ENTRIES ARE OPEN!

Lots of different classes for every shape and size of horse and pony! 🐴🦄

Pre entries at only £8 per class and £12 for Side Saddle Association Area 9 classes but we will be taking entries on the day as well!

Bloomin’ heck! What a day! We have completely and utter smashed the BD Para Champs!

I actually cannot put into words what a beautiful day we’ve had 🥰 everyone rode so well and had such a nice day spent together as a Drum family and again the results speak for themselves 👀

How phenomenal is that?! Our first trip down for this competition and the results are just amazing!

We would also like to say a huge congratulations to our friends from Muirfield Riding Therapy and Thornton Rose Riding for the Disabled who had a brilliant day as well! Helena rode Ernie and was 1st in her Grade 7 Walk only class, to Alexa who got a 2nd in hers and to Sheila who absolutely knocked it out of the park to win her class!

Let’s do it all again next year 👀🥳🫶

Own A Pony Day 4 ✅

We’ve had another lovely day with riders completing their Grade 1 Riding and Horse Care, Grade 2 Riding and Horse Care and some starting towards their Grade 3!

We’ve worked on controlling our horses and some have started doing some more independent riding! Well done guys!

Week 2 of Own A Pony Days kicked off today with a super group of girls who crammed loads into their day!

Today we completed our Grade 3 Horse Care Proficiency Certificate, learned how to lunge, had a lovely long hack, starting doing some trot work over poles and one rider even had their first try at a trot so overall just a SUPER day! Well done everyone 🥳
