Behind the scenes at Patisserie Florentin — with an unexpected guest.

During our content shoot with Brand Photography | Edinburgh, we met Bree McKeen, founder of international bra brand Evelyn & Bobbie, enjoying a coffee by the window. She kindly agreed to be part of the shoot.

One of my favourite things about Stockbridge is the people you meet and the conversations that unfold. You never know who’s sitting at the next table.

What a week of launches & live music …

First up, the soft launch of Ottolenghi Edinburgh, sampling dishes from the menu the day before it officially opened. Along with Steven Suckling and Cameron Ross, taking a break from managing The Witchery, we had the best seat in the house on the mezzanine overlooking the restaurant and were so well looked after. Steven loved getting a signed cookbook and my highlight was the open langoustines that just peeled off.

Then on to the launch of Edinburgh Cocktail Week, also the night before it officially opened, for some cocktail sampling and live music.

More music at The Voodoo Rooms for a charity gig organised by baillie_gifford, raising money for — with one of my friends among the headliners, absolutely rocking it!

Finishing off the week at the launch of The Lyon Public House, back on George Street — formerly Westside Rodeo, or Opal Lounge as us oldies remember it!

Now swapping city launches for a few days with family in Moray. Some R&R, helping my dad, who’s 81 and has Parkinson’s, and giving my mum, who’s 88 and spends much of her time caring for him, a much-needed breather.

And near Findhorn … not a bad place for a little R&R. My favourites being The Kimberley Inn, Findhorn for fish & chips overlooking the water, Watershed Sauna & swim & The Bakehouse Market stocked to brim with local organic produce run by two sisters brought up in Findhorn Foundation ~ Spiritual Learning Centre - where I was once at nursery!

Purslane is the perfect place for a hearty autumnal tasting menu.

Tucked away on St Stephen Street, has that lovely cosy feel that makes you want to settle in for the evening. Beautifully presented food, a glass of w**e paired with course after course to look forward to.

Their seasonal menus change, but dishes on their include roast pigeon with bacon jam and sweetcorn polenta, roasted turbot, and a chocolate and raspberry dessert. A lovely spot for an autumn dinner in Stockbridge.
