🥃 A new chapter in Scottish whisky begins… ‘This whisky has my family’s imprint on it’

Six years after laying down their first cask, the team at Jackton Distillery is ready to unveil something special - RAER Whisky Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

The distillery draws on its Lowland estate wherever it can, with locally grown barley forming part of its whisky-making, and water from its own site used at key stages of the process.

Jackton has also become the first Scotch whisky distillery to fill casks from the prestigious Chambord Estate in France, with those casks now maturing for future releases.

With just 6,000 bottles of this first batch on sale, each hand-numbered by the team, this is a chance to pick up a piece of history.

We sat down with Managing Director, Jaynie Kean, to find out the story behind RAER Scotch Whisky and what we can expect from this first release.

Edinburgh becoming Britain’s gelato capital? It wasn’t on anyone’s bingo card. 🍨

But after Portobello’s Oscar's Gelato became the first Scottish gelateria to win Best Gelato in the UK & Ireland - beating more than 400 competitors at the Golden Scoop Awards - it suddenly makes perfect sense.

From institutions like Mary's Milk Bar to a new wave of brilliant gelaterias, Scotland’s capital is quietly becoming one of the UK’s best places for gelato (and yes, don’t call it ice cream).

For our August issue tried out some of Edinburgh’s best spots including:

Oscar's Gelato
MOO PIE Gelato

Joelato
The Balmoral, a Rocco Forte Hotel

Now over to you... where’s your favourite place for gelato in Edinburgh? Have we missed a hidden gem? Let us know below. 🍦👇
