Edinburgh Food Project
Emergency Food For Local People in Crisis. Individuals are only referred from professional front line care agencies.

.

Due to changes in the benefit system, redundancy or debt, individuals and families can find themselves having to choose between food, electricity and rent. Edinburgh Food Project runs foodbanks in the North West, Centre and East of Edinburgh and can provide people with short-term emergency food parcels whilst the crisis is addressed.

Looking to learn new skills, meet new people and help out in the community?

We're excited to share that our work on creating a new community growing space at Thistle Foundation in Craigmillar will be starting very soon!

In partnership with Cyrenians, we will be offering workshops and volunteering opportunities between 14 August and 25 September. Swipe to see a breakdown of the workshops.

These sessions are open to anyone who would like to develop this new growing space, take forward the ideas of the community and learn about food growing. All sessions will be delivered by an experienced community gardener, so no prior knowledge is necessary.

If you are planning to attend, please contact Colin by email: [email protected]

At our Craigmillar Community Hub based inside the Thistle Foundation, in addition to our foodbank, we also host drop-in services.

These are run by other organisations in the city, offering tailored support to the community. Drop-in services do not require referrals and are open to everyone, regardless of where they live or whether they use the foodbank.

This month, you can find Changeworks, The City of Edinburgh Council, The Salvation Army United Kingdom and Ireland Territory, APEX Scotland, Turning Point Scotland, VOCAL Edinburgh, AdvoCard and Places for People Scotland.

Please share as someone else may find the services available helpful.

A quick interview with the team following the results... ⚽

School's out, but hunger isn't. With families across the city facing hardship this summer, every donation counts.

As you grab your match-day snacks for the World Cup Final this weekend, or stock up on your weekly shop, pick up an extra item for your local food bank too.

You can find our list of urgently needed items and your nearest collection point by visiting: https://edinburghfoodproject.org/donate-food/

One extra item. One big difference. 💚

A huge congratulations to our much-loved volunteer, Sharon!

Sharon was invited to the Scottish Parliament opening ceremony last weekend as a “local hero”, having the honour of meeting the King and Queen. We are delighted that Sharon has received this award in recognition of the difference she makes and the care she shows to others. From everyone at Edinburgh Food Project: thank you for everything you do. We are so proud of Sharon and grateful for her time, dedication and kindness. ❤️
