BEAR Scotland, which operates and maintains trunk roads across South East Scotland, has donated £750 to us.

Nikki Ramsay, Manager of Ravelrig RDA, said: “It costs £10,000 a year to look after a horse, so this donation will be put towards hay and feed for the horses as that is one of our biggest expenditures. We thank BEAR Scotland immensely for this donation.

“We have over 100 volunteers who help us deliver fun, progressive and inclusive sessions to the many keen riders that come along. Watching each one of them grow in confidence around the horses and in themselves is a joy. It’s why we do what we do.

“We don’t charge for our lessons and operate a pay-as-you-can system for the running of the group, so donations like these are important to help keep us going.”

This donation is part of BEAR’s Regional Charity Initiative, which sees employees nominate good causes that make a difference in the communities where the company operates.

BEAR Scotland manages and maintains the M8, A720 and A702 trunk roads in the South East.

The trustees, participants and volunteers of Ravelrig RDA would like to extend congratulations to our very own Lynda Whittaker on being awarded the RDA President’s Award.

The RDA President’s Award is one of the most prestigious honours within the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA), presented by the RDA President, HRH The Princess Royal, honouring extraordinary volunteers who have shown exceptional dedication to RDA for 30 years or more.

Lynda has been a volunteer with Ravelrig since it was founded 40 years ago and an RDA coach for the last 22 years but her involvement with RDA extends beyond the Ravelrig Group. It has included the roles of both County Chair for Edinburgh, Fife and Lothians and Regional Chair for the Edinburgh & Borders Region. She has also been a member of the Board of Trustees of Riding for the Disabled UK. Lynda continues her national role within RDA as one of the Scottish Safeguarding Trainers and she sits on the RDA UK Quality and Standards Board.

We all at Ravelrig RDA are so proud of Lynda and are grateful to her for the time and dedication she has given to not only our Group but the whole of RDA.

Congratulations also to Nikki and Frances from Edinburgh and Borders RDA Region for your very deserved recognition too.
