On 18 September the ExecSpace team attended the annual Cash for Kids Ball at Prestonfield House in Edinburgh.

The evening highlighted some inspiring stories, all in support of Cash for Kids and its work helping children and families across Edinburgh, the Lothians, Fife and Falkirk.

Working with YOTEL in Edinburgh and Glasgow already, our Venue Find & Event Sales Executive Gemma recently stayed at YOTEL London City to review this hotel for customer enquiries. Gemma had a great experience.

Just a five-minute walk from Farringdon Station, the hotel is well located for getting around London, while still offering somewhere to step away from the hustle and bustle after a busy day.

It’s a solid venue to keep in mind for smaller business meetings and workshops, with dedicated meeting hubs for groups of up to 24, and Revolve, the hotel’s all-day bar and dining space where guests can relax, catch up with colleagues or grab a bite to eat, a perfect environment for those less formal corporate gatherings.

A few Kingfisher Hospitality Group updates worth knowing about...

The hotel landscape is always changing, so keeping up with what’s new across our supplier network is a big part of what we do at ExecSpace.

We recently caught up with the Kingfisher Hospitality Group team for the ExecSpace team to receive updates on what’s happening across their portfolio, from new developments to investments taking place in their current properties. Kingfisher manage a number of Marriott and Delta by Marriott hotels in key conference city locations including Bristol, London/Heathrow, Manchester, Edinburgh and Glasgow to name a few, all purpose built to look after events and groups.

The team, recently awarded the Global Marriott Elite Award for Above-Property Marketing Team of the Year award (congratulations Georgia and Jess!), gave us a run through of upcoming news, which is particularly important to us as we’re looking at everything from accommodation groups to meetings and events to support our clients. AI isn't replacing event planners. That’s a fact.

According to a recent report by Momentus Technologies (called “The State of AI in Venue & Event Management”) while AI enhances performance, the future of event management remains human-led. In fact, their research indicates that 66% of organisations interviewed for the purpose prefer human-led operations over full automation, with 52% citing a lack of industry-specific context in AI tools.

AI is inevitably becoming part of event planning – and that’s a good thing, to enable more choice and personalisation for the customer - but human expertise, creativity and interaction remains the differentiator. AI is great at streamlining logistics, but it’s creativity, empathy and experience that still drive memorable events.

Our ExecSpace team recently visited Apex Waterloo Place in Edinburgh, where we were shown around the hotel and the recently redesigned beautiful ground floor spaces and catch-up with the Apex team.
