New glasses day! Our dispensing optician Carol looking fabulous in her latest pair of occupational glasses - model Hana from Kirk & Kirk 💜 in colour Violet, a stunning purple pink gradient that shines in the brand’s signature acrylic material 👓

Carol wears Elife Pro 2M lenses from Nikon Lenswear UK as these allow her to see both her screen and read clearly at work, as well as see up to the 2 metres away at the top of the lens so she can move around the practice with clear vision.

Are your eyes ready for night driving?
Darker evenings, wet roads and dazzling headlights can make winter driving more challenging. Have you noticed road signs looking less clear, more glare from oncoming traffic, or that you feel less confident behind the wheel after dark?

Small changes in your prescription can become more noticeable in low light. Dry eyes and cataracts can also contribute to glare, so it’s worth getting any changes checked.

A few practical steps can help:

🚗 Wear your glasses for driving if you’ve been advised to.
👓 Keep your lenses clean and your prescription up to date.
✨ Clean your windscreen inside and out.
🌙 Avoid tinted “night driving” glasses, which reduce the light reaching your eyes.

If night driving has become more difficult, or you’re due an eye examination, book an appointment. We can check your vision and eye health, and advise on suitable lenses for driving, including Nikon’s specialist driving lenses.

Earlier this month, we shared Carol’s impressive achievement of completing her second Ironman. As well as being a dispensing optician and accomplished triathlete, Carol is also a triathlon coach, so she knows first-hand just how important the right eyewear can be when you’re training and competing.

Supporting our local community
We may not have shared an update for a little while, but behind the scenes our monthly charity donations have been continuing.

Each month, we donate s a proportion of our sales to a charity or community organisation nominated by our patients and team. This month, we’re pleased to be supporting COSS, Community One Stop Shop in Broomhouse, with a donation towards the important work they do within the local community.

COSS provides practical support to people across South West Edinburgh, helping with everything from advice and advocacy to tackling food poverty and supporting people through difficult times.

A huge thank you to our patients. Every time you buy a frame, you’re helping us support organisations making a real difference in our wider Edinburgh community.

There’s something you may not know about the team at Cameron Optometry: we can bake!

We have several talented bakers who could give the Great British Bake Off contestants a run for their money. This Friday, they’ll be putting their skills to good use in support of Macmillan Cancer Support.

If you’re visiting us for an appointment, come prepared to enjoy a treat or two, with more available to take home. If you’re passing, please pop in and join us.

We adore Emma’s new glasses on her - stunning model Van from Kirk & Kirk in colour Capri! Emma also loved model Raw 7 from Anne et Valentin so what to do… turn them into sunglasses! 😎 don’t they look perfect with polarised grey lenses!

Remember you can turn any frame with clear lenses into sunglasses, plus it is still super important to wear sunglasses in winter to protect your eyes against UV rays.
