We understand that sexual violence doesn’t just impact survivors themselves. It can be difficult for family, friends and partners to know what to do, how to support survivors and how to process their own feelings.

We offer short blocks of support for people close to survivors who are affected by sexual violence.

We exist to provide space for survivors’ stories to be held and heard. Part of this is in providing safe, respectful ther**eutic spaces for survivors to tell their stories in their own words and at their own pace. Here’s a quote from a parent who accessed support from our service.

Right now over 100 survivors in Moray are waiting up to 15 months for support.
Survivors shouldn’t have to wait for support.

SARCS (Sexual Assault Response Coordination Service) is a dedicated NHS Scotland service which can offer healthcare and support in the days after an assault. It offers a self-referral service, meaning that anyone aged 16 or over can access healthcare and request a forensic medical examination in the days following an assault, without first having to make a report to the police.

The healthcare staff are there to help provide any medical, emotional or practical support you might need. The person you speak to will explain the options available to you. You will be supported to help find the right option for you.

Sexual violence means any form of unwanted sexual contact. You may hear different words for the varying forms of sexual violence such as r**e, sexual assault, childhood sexual abuse or sexual harassment. Other forms of sexual violence include stalking, sexual exploitation, forced marriage, image-based abuse and organised and ritual abuse.

Everyone is affected differently by sexual violence. This is no right or wrong way to feel. How you feel, and what you want to do, depend on your own experience.

If someone has harmed you, it is not your fault.
