Celebrating the People Behind the Profession
This October, the BACP Members' Event will include the Member Awards, an opportunity to recognise the dedication, expertise, and impact of therapists within our profession.
I'm honoured to have been invited to join the judging panel and to play a small part in recognising the inspiring work that therapists do every day.
I'd like to acknowledge everyone who has been nominated. Being put forward by colleagues or peers is an achievement in itself and reflects the positive impact you have on those around you and the people you support. Thank you for the difference you make to individuals, communities, and to our profession every day.

When patients and their families need to stay close to the Haematology Centre but live some distance away, ELF can help arrange accommodation.
This service is particularly valuable for outpatients living in North Devon who need to stay in Exeter for consecutive days of treatment. Due to increasing demand, ELF is now able to offer two hotel options: Mercure Exeter Southgate Hotel and voco Zeal Exeter Science Park.
If you or a loved one is living with blood cancer and needs support, please visit our website to learn about the full range of services ELF provide: https://www.elfcharity.org.uk/

Establishing Your Professional Identity as a Therapist When we first begin our therapy journey, it can feel as though we are searching for the "right" way to be a therapist. We read books, attend training, learn theories and observe experienced practitioners, often wondering when we will finally feel like a ‘real’ therapist.

📢‼️ Two new landmark treatments for rare blood cancers have been approved by NHS England – offering new hope to hundreds of children and adults when other treatment options have failed.
From today, eligible people with histiocytic neoplasms can access dabrafenib, a targeted treatment that can be taken at home. By blocking the proteins that help cancer cells grow, it can slow or stop the disease while allowing many people to spend less time in hospital and more time living their lives.
Eligible people with Hodgkin lymphoma that has come back or hasn't responded to treatment can also now access brentuximab vedotin with bendamustine. This targeted combination has shown high remission rates and could help some people become well enough to receive a potentially life-saving stem cell transplant.
This is another important step forward for people affected by blood cancer. Every new treatment approved brings hope to more families and shows the power of research to transform lives. But we know too many blood cancers remain hard to treat, which is why continued investment in research has never been more important ❤️
