YMCA Exeter
Inspired by Jesus' example, we create supportive, inclusive and energising communities where all young people can belong, contribute and thrive.
We provide Supported Housing, wellbeing support, and youth services for children and young people. We believe that every person is hugely valuable and ensure that our services are welcoming to people of all faiths or none. We offer young people the space they need to feel secure, respected, heard and valued and we stand up for young people, speaking out on issues that affect their lives. We are passionate about local communities being places that are characterised by love, joy, peace and hope where all young people can become everything they were created to be.

Last week, Simon Day weddings (https://simonday.com/) gave a photography taster session for one of our residents in Torbay, covering camera set-up, lighting and portraits! π· Our resident was able to take some great headshots of some of the staff team during the session.
We are grateful for business owners like Simon, that invest in our residents as part of our EMOTE programme (Education, Meaningful Occupation, Training and Employment) β a dedicated strand of support for every young person living with YMCA Exeter, Torbay Accommodation.
The EMOTE Programme is a targeted initiative designed to inspire and raise aspirations among the young people who live with us. Its purpose is to create opportunities that many of them may not have had access to while living in unstable or challenging circumstances.
If you are a local Torbay business that has a passion for investing in young people, you can find out more about getting involved with our emote programme here: ymcaexeter.org.uk/emote/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=emote

Today marks 33 years since we first opened here on St David's Hill, officially opened by the Right Worshipful the Mayor of Exeter, Cllr. M.J. Rich, on 24th September 1993.
Since then, this building has been a starting point for hundreds of young people rebuilding their lives after homelessness β a safe place to live, and the support to move forward from there. That's only been possible because of everyone who believed in it: the councillors, staff, volunteers and supporters who got it open in the first place, and everyone who's kept it going since.
If you'd like to help make sure it's still standing for the next 33 years, one of the easiest ways costs you nothing today: you can write or update your Will completely free (worth Β£90), through our partnership with Octopus Legacy β with the option to leave YMCA Exeter a gift in it, if you choose to.

23 miles across Dartmoor, in a day.
Last Friday, more than 30 people from Bishop Fleming's Exeter and Plymouth offices walked the Abbot's Way, the old route across the moor, to raise money towards YMCA Exeter. Some of our team joined them for it.
It's a long, wet, hilly way to support a charity, and they did it anyway. Thank you to everyone who walked and everyone who sponsored them β the money raised goes straight into our work with young people facing homelessness in Devon.
Still time to donate β https://eu1.hubs.ly/H0ym7qr0

This came out of our kitchen, not a bakery.
Strawberry cheesecake, from scratch, made by young people learning to cook.
Are you someone who understands what cooking gives you? The independence of it, the pride in putting something in front of people and saying I made that?
Β£10 a month could go towards our weekly prep and cook group.

The Big Build π¨
Last week, 2 groups of volunteers from accountancy firms in Exeter took part in The Big Build, where we spent two days constructing DIY flat pack furniture for Breakwater Place! Our 47 bed property in Plymouth.
Thank you to Life at Bishop Fleming and PKF-Francis Clark for giving your time to help us with this project! π·ββοΈ
