Musician, Hufflepuff, Dreamer, Lover of Red Lipstick 💄 Burn the Witch out 28/10/22 🎧 Hannah has always loved music.

Hannah Ruby is a red-lipstick loving musician from Exeter, England, whose influences cover The Beatles, David Bowie, Queen, Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift. Her message and brand is one of being true to yourself, hope, believing in yourself and never giving up on things you love even when things get challenging. Through her songs and messages she shares relatable experiences such as – overcoming self-doubt, lack of confidence, pains of growing up and fitting in and mental health but with a message of hope and seeing the positive times yet to come. Hannah’s voice has been described as ‘soulful.’ Her style leans towards pop and singer-songwriter. She’s been a finalist in the regional finals of Open Mic, as well as an invited guest on Radio Exe. Her song ‘Hunted’ from her first debut EP ‘Wild’ was played on BBC Introducing in the South West. Most of her songs she’d recorded and produced herself and she has written all of them. She would sing and dance with her family to bands like the Levellers. Her first public appearance was at the weekly Sunday karaoke at aged 9. She would sing ‘My Boy Lollipop’ and ‘Georgy Girl.’ She has extremely fond memories of the karaoke as her first ‘live performance.’ At age 13 she got her first guitar and her dad taught her to play. Prior to this, Hannah had been writing songs in her head, and now she was able to put chords to them.

A very special message from Hannah Ruby

And here we are — after four years, today’s final gig marks the end of my time performing with Decade.

I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported me and the band over the years — whether you came to gigs, shared our posts, danced along, sang with us or simply cheered us on from afar. It has genuinely meant so much.

I’d also like to thank the band for being such brilliant musicians to play alongside. I’ve learned a huge amount during my time with them and I’m very grateful for all of the experiences, memories and opportunities we’ve shared.

For now, I’m looking forward to focusing more of my time and energy on teaching music lessons and developing my solo music and other creative projects. You can keep up with what I’m doing over on my page.

Today’s the day!!!
It’s Hannah Ruby’s last Exeter gig at The Royal Oak - 24 from 4pm this afternoon. She’s handpicked a set list of her favourites from her four years with us, so expect a couple of hours of 80s Smash Hits.
We’ll be playing outside in the beer garden by the river…lovely! Come along and grab a table and a nice cool pint.
