One last hurrah for the sunshine? Here’s hoping! ☀️
To finish our Alfresco series, we’re sharing some Exeter picks for an alfresco date night:
🍕 Pop Kitchen - home of Detroit-style pizza, with their deep-dish pizzas big enough to share. Our go-to? The Magnum, but don’t miss the burrata dishes!
🇫🇷 Côte - enjoy French cuisine, from regional specialities to traditional classics, all while overlooking Exeter Cathedral.
🍷 Calvo Loco - enjoy a Spanish feast on picturesque Magdalen Road with a range of small plates, from tortillas and patatas bravas to octopus and peppers. Don’t forget a refreshing sangria!
🇹🇷 Efes Grill - transport yourself to Turkey with authentic cuisine in the heart of Exeter. Choose from meze, dishes from the grill or traditional Turkish pizza. A bit like on holiday - you'll find it hard to choose from their menu options!
🍕 Portal Pizza - its Queen Street location is perfect for a relaxed date night, complete with delicious hand-stretched pizzas.
And while we wish we could dine alfresco forever, all of these spots have wonderful indoor options too.

☕ When we included Caffe Espresso in a recent roundup, it became clear that this Castle Street café was still waiting to be discovered by many - so we thought it deserved a little showcase!
Tucked away on one of Exeter’s prettiest streets, this independent café is run by Phil and serves excellent coffee alongside homemade treats, with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options available.
Just a short walk from the High Street, it is a lovely place to slow down and escape the bustle. If Café Espresso is new to you too, pop in and discover it for yourself! 💛
