⭐️ Bisexual Awareness Week seeks to accelerate acceptance of the bi+ community, draws attention to the bi+ experience and also celebrates the resilience of the bisexual community
❤ What does it mean to be 'bisexual'?
Bisexuality means different things to different people. Traditionally, bisexuality has been described as an attraction and/or sexual orientation to both the same and the opposite gender to oneself. There are many different ways to describe attraction to more than one gender, and terms such as ‘bi+’ have recently become more common in describing one’s attraction to a spectrum of gender identities.
❤ What does the term 'bi+' mean?
'Bi+' is a newer umbrella term for people who recognize and honor their potential for sexual and emotional attraction to more than one gender (bisexual, pansexual, omnisexual, fluid, q***r, asexual, and other free identifiers)

❤ What do the colours of the Bisexual Flag mean?
The bisexual pride flag is coloured pink, purple and blue. The pink stripe represents attraction to the same gender, while the blue stripe represents attraction to the opposite gender. The purple stripe, the resulting "overlap" of the blue and pink stripes, represents attraction to all genders including non-binary people and those of other gender identities.

In his latest reflection, Consortium CEO Paul Roberts considers the current challenges facing LGBT+ communities and why engagement with government remains an important part of creating change.

Paul reflects on the complexities of working with those in power, and why building relationships does not mean staying silent. It means being in the room, telling the truth, challenging harmful decisions and making sure the experiences of LGBT+ communities are heard.

As we head into autumn, Consortium is choosing practical, collective, and determined hope, and continuing to stand alongside our members, grantees, and partners.

We are proud to support The Missing Picture.

Consortium is a Research Supporter of The Missing Picture, a joint research programme by Older Q***r Voices and LGBT Great exploring the experiences of LGBTQ+ people as we age.

LGBTQ+ people aged 50+ are at the heart of The Missing Picture, and we particularly want to hear from people in their 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond.

Younger LGBTQ+ people aged 18+ are also invited to take part, helping us understand what has changed across generations, what has not, and how experiences of ageing may differ.

The findings will help build a stronger evidence base on LGBTQ+ ageing, strengthen advocacy and help influence future policy, practice, services and communities.

On this Le***an History Day, we celebrate the life and works of Christabel Marshall (1871-1960), also known as Christopher St John, an Exeter-born playwright, author and women’s suffrage campaigner. An important LGBTQ+ figure, she shared her life with Edith Craig and Clare Atwood, wrote about sexuality and identity, and helped shape feminist and q***r cultural history.

Salary - £25,883 + 5% pension contribution p.a.
Based in - Truro, covering Cornwall.
