Montrose Air Station Heritage Centre – New Displays & Fly-In Weekend
✈️ Celebrating Montrose’s Aviation Heritage ✈️
The Lord-Lieutenant was honoured to officially open the new Medal Room and refurbished Diorama Room at Montrose Air Station Heritage Centre.
The Medal Room is a superb display, featuring medals from the First World War, Second World War and other conflicts. Behind many of the medals is the story of an individual and their service – stories which deserve to be remembered and shared.
The new Diorama Room brings the remarkable history of Montrose Airfield to life, from the arrival of No. 2 Squadron in 1913 through two World Wars and right up to the airfield’s closure in 1952.
The opening formed part of a hugely successful Fly-In Weekend, which brought visitors together to enjoy the aircraft and discover more about Montrose’s proud aviation heritage.
Special congratulations must go to all the volunteers whose tremendous hard work has made these new displays possible.
Montrose has an extraordinary aviation story, and the museum continues to do an outstanding job of ensuring that history is preserved for future generations. ✈️👏
