The Tale of the Great Tay Whale

Studio 132, next Saturday 22nd August at 7pm

This is the compelling story of how the bones of a juvenile humpback whale came to be displayed in the McManus Galleries in Dundee. Four characters tell the story of how local people reacted when a whale swam into the Tay estuary in November 1887. Today we have great respect and would travel many miles to see a live whale, but things were different over 100 years ago. The jute mills of Forfar relied on whale oil to soften the fibres for spinning. A happy ending is guaranteed in this celebration of a whale's life who could conceivably still been alive today

Performed by Neil Paterson.

Tickets:
Adults £10
Concessions £9
