Our new Angus Active Travel Hub brings information together in one place, including:
🚶 Local walking, wheeling and cycling routes
🛠️ Updates on active travel projects
💬 Consultations and opportunities to get involved

🏠 New Damp and Mould Repairs Timescale for Tenants

From 6 October 2026, the Investigation and Commencement of Repair (Scotland) Regulations 2026 (known as Awaab's Law) will introduce new clear legal requirements and timescales for all social and private landlords, including the Council, to respond more quickly to reports of damp and mould in tenants’ homes and take action where required.

As detailed within the guidance, from 6 October 2026, social and private landlords in Scotland will be required:
• To ensure that a competent person investigates reports of damp or mould within 10 working days of becoming aware of them.

• To produce a written summary of investigation findings and provide this to the tenant or their representative within 3 working days of the investigation’s conclusion.

• If the investigation determines substantial damp or mould, the landlord must ensure repair work is commenced within 5 working days upon conclusion of the investigation.

• Upon commencement, social landlords must ensure the repair is completed within a maximum period of 20 working days. Private landlords must ensure the repair is completed as soon as reasonably practicable.

Ahead of the new regulations, we have commissioned a new contract with specialist contractor Richardson & Starling, commencing on 1 October 2026, to support damp and mould investigations and repairs. Alongside this, we have enhanced the skills of our internal workforce through additional training, increasing our capacity and ensuring we can meet the new response times.

We're consulting on a proposal to grant a servitude right of access over The Den, Brechin.

The access is required for a residential development at the former Infirmary and would be used for surface water drainage. The Den would continue to form part of the Brechin Common Good.

👉 Find out more about the proposal and have your say by completing the survey on Engage Angus - https://orlo.uk/r7YjF

The consultation closes 9 October 2026.
