🥋🏉 Judo meets rugby!

Our girls, with players from our combined teams Montrose & Mackie, swapped the rugby pitch for the judo mat last night, learning some basic falling techniques, holds and movement skills — and, most importantly, how these can transfer across to their rugby and help them feel more confident in contact situations.

Thank you to the coaches at Brechin Judo Club for having us along and putting the girls through their paces. It was a brilliant session, we’re already looking forward to the next session and building on what they learned! 💜🦈

Yesterday, some of our U16s & U18s attended a SRU Passion & Brave event held at Strathendrick.
Passion & Brave events are part of a player development programme run by Scottish Rugby, combining teams to ensure game play opportunities.

Well done to our players who were selected to play at the Scottish Rugby Inter-district games yesterday at Merchiston in Edinburgh.

Aimee and Beth, both played extremely well with Cally East U18s.

There was also great play from Rachel playing for Cally East U16 and Elodee playing for Cally West U16. Due to injury Eilidh was unable to play.

Today the Angus All‑Stars U14s — Charlotte, Tilly, Grace, Abbey and Alice — stepped onto the pitch as part of a combined squad with Stirling County to take on Dundee.

Dundee came out flying, racking up early tries before Angus/Stirling had even found their rhythm. But once they settled, the All‑Stars dug in hard. The girls put in a fierce shift: big tackles, determined carries, and absolutely no shortage of heart. The combined side fought back with everything they had, but Dundee’s pace and early momentum proved just a bit too much to reel in.

Despite Dundee taking the win, the effort was immense, the teamwork was sharp, and the spirit on the pitch was pure class. A tough match — but a proud showing from a squad that never stopped grafting.

🏉 What a performance from the Fusions v Garioch RFC!

The U16s were looking to step up from their last match — and they absolutely delivered. An excellent win against quality opposition, scoring first and never giving up the lead.

What stood out most was the teamwork, bravery and belief. The lessons from the last game were clear to see, with some huge tackles, relentless defence and brilliant attacking support. That first try was a perfect example of what happens when you play for each other.

There were some outstanding individual performances, but this was a team win — all 18 players played their part👏

A special mention to captain Winnie, brilliantly supported by Helen and Eilidh, who led the team superbly.

POTM deservingly awarded to Ellie 🌟

We now face Lochaber in Round 2 of the National Youth Cup in two weeks, so we’ll enjoy this one, take the confidence from it, but keep our feet firmly on the ground.

Yesterday our Under 18’s combined team, Outlaws, played a fantastic game of rugby, with a win of 57-22 v Strathendrick at Garioch RFC.

Beth was the player of the match for forwards 💪

With only one U14 travelling today to the U14 Evolution Festival, Charlotte stepped up and played the first half for Falkirk, then switched to Stirling County for the second.

Both squads put in solid tackles, tidy passing, and good teamwork. Charlotte slotted in, and got stuck into the contact.

Stirling County looked like they would take the game after the first half, but Falkirk stepped up & took the win.

Brilliant play from all involved.
