A weekend full of action...

On Saturday the Men's First Team made it eight from eight in the league, following on from Tuesday's crazy game with a more straightforward 5-0 win against Eynesbury Rovers. George Seeley (sponsored by Laskeys) was the star of the show with a hat-trick and the player of the match nod, plus Brady Floyd was back in the goals alongside an almost customary Connor Mort (sponsored by Antony Bermingham) strike. Another clean sheet for a miserly defence too!

Sunday morning was a positive one for the Pigeons too, who beat Olton Ravens 3-0. Harry Lake, Charlie Manners and Lewis Campton were all on the scoresheet, and Bear Wall was in superb form in goal to maintain the clean sheet.

The Vets nabbed a 2-2 draw away at Coventry Phoenix, good result after being two down thanks to a slow start. An own goal and Matt Bailey's strike got them level, but they couldn't quite finish one of their chances to take the three points.

Not such good news from the Women's Team game however, as they were knocked out the FA Cup by Port Vale, losing out 0-2 at home. Two first half goals gave the Robins work to do second half, but they couldn't get back into it.

Okay, now we've all had a lie down, lets try summarise last night.

We go to seven league wins from seven games and remain at the top of the table after the 3-4 win away at Atherstone Town. George Seeley's (sponsored by Laskeys) early header and a Connor Mort (sponsored by Antony Bermingham Building) penalty put Knowle 0-2 up in the first twenty mins. A host of other chances went begging before Atherstone somewhat came back into it before halftime, but the whistle blew with that well deserved lead.

However Knowle had two men sent off minutes after the break, and it looked like trouble when Atherstone clawed a goal back minutes later. Talib Copeland (sponsored by Prestige Home & Building) had other ideas though, scoring a brilliant solo goal on the hour mark. We then had Matt Seeley sent off from the dugout and Atherstone roared back with two goals to bring it to 3-3. The nine men kept grafting and Copeland was at it again to put us 3-4 up, then we had another player sinbinned for the final ten minutes of the game, went to a 1-4-3-0 formation and held on!

Don't even ask what went on 🤯

Our club reporter, George had a brilliant experience last weekend and gained some cracking future career experience.

George joined our Titans team, the NVD branch of the club, last year and has since become a key club volunteer, taking on many of the media and match reporting duties.

As a keen Blues fan, he also reports on their matches for Blues Focus. Last weekend during the Derby County v BCFC match, George had the chance to see what media arrangements look like in the professional game, with a tour of the behind the scenes media facilities, the chance to sit in on the post match press conference and even the opportunity to ask Blues boss Chris Davies a question for his match report! What a day!

Coming up, both our First Teams have big games this week!

Tomorrow night the Men travel to Atherstone Town for a early top of the table clash, first v second. Kick off is at 7.45pm and it would be great to see Knowle fans over at Sheepy Road. Gate fees are £9 for adults, £6 for concessions, £2 children.

The Women start their own FA Cup adventure this Sunday, when they host Port Vale at home for a 2pm kick off. This will be their 12th season in the competition and after the FA Cup excitement over the past couple of weeks at Knowle FC, it would be great to see a good crowd for the Women's game also - pay on the gate, £5 adults, £3 concessions, children free!

Your weekend round up...

We started with another cup game for the Men's First Team on Saturday, this time in the FA Vase with Ashby Ivanhoe the visitors. A scrappy first half performance saw Knowle 0-1 down at the break, before an improved second half seemed to have got the team out the mire; goals from Connor Mort (sponsored by Antony Bermingham) and a strike from debutant Sonny Sheasby on 83 minutes. However, Ashby equalised in the 92nd minutes to take the game to penalties and despite Matt Horton saving two, Knowle lost out in sudden death. Anton Powell picked up the player of the match award.

Sunday morning had better news for Knowle fans with both the Vets and Pigeons producing super wins. The Vets beat Coventry Phoenix 5-1 in their first home game of the season; Kristian Hollowood and Matt Bailey grabbing a brace each, and Steve Ruck weighing in with his first Vets goal to add to plenty for the First Team over the years.

The Pigeons also put five past their opponents, beating 3C's United 0-5. Charlie Manners banged in a hattrick with Luke McCourt and Ed Wells also on the scoresheet.

The Women's Team capped things off on Sunday afternoon with a 3-2 comeback win at home to Stourbridge. Trina Greaves with another two goals to add to the tally, and young striker Jess Bryer (sponsored by Thorlux Lighting) with her first for the club. Holly Briggs was named player of the match for her classy display.

Lastly, thank you to everyone who stood silent to remember Andy over the course of the weekend; not only Knowle family but all the opposition teams who joined us. Hundreds of people honoured him, and the club are very grateful for your respect and support.
