Methley Striders
An EA affiliated running club based in LS26. We are a friendly, inclusive and supportive group. Thursday evening is our club run evening, we meet at 7pm-8pm.
Most weeks we offer 4+ run groups, ranging from run/walk, 5k, 4 miles, 5 miles to 6+miles based on set paces. We have over 10 run leaders, 1 coach and lots of volunteers. All members have access to a private facebook group, where we post updates on club runs, events and social activities and share the highs and lows of running. Our club offers a wide variety of running opportunities, including trail runs, social runs or race reccies (usually with a pub at the end) park run tourism and takeovers. All our members are also individual EA members. Membership is £37 (this included the £15 EA individual membership)
Annually, we offer a number of competitions for club members to take part in. This includes a grand prix, a park run championship, and we also have a number of individual awards, all presented annually. If you are interested in joining us, send us an email to [email protected]
Today is World Mental Health Day
Running may have brought us together, but it's not the only thing that keeps us here.
Behind every training session, race, and PB is something even more important... friendship, laughter, support, and community.
Today, on World Mental Health Day, we're celebrating all the moments that happen between the miles. The dancing, the chats, the social nights, the encouragement, the cakes, the silliness, and the countless laughs that remind us we're never alone.
At Methley Striders, we're more than a running club. We're a community that lifts each other up through the good days, the tough days, and everything in between.
Here’s to the friendships we've built, the memories we've made, and the reminder that sometimes the best therapy isn't the run itself... it's the people beside you. ❤️

Huge shout out to Amanda on completing an incredible 250 parkruns!
She decided to celebrate the occasion by choosing what is said to be the hardest parkrun in Scotland, and tackling it the day before the Loch Ness Marathon. A slightly crazy decision? Absolutely.
Despite the challenging course and a marathon still to come, as you can see from the photo, she was all smiles from start to finish.
Congratulations Amanda- a fantastic achievement and a testament to your dedication, determination, and love of running.
Here’s to the next milestone!

A huge shoutout to Paul, who has been nominated for this shout out by a strider who has found him a real inspiration this year 🤩
His race performances and incredible improvements have been impressive, considering how he continues to manage personal health challenges while always finding time to support and encourage others.
Well done Paul ❤️🖤❤️

Welcome to the team, Sandra! ❤️🖤❤️
Sandra has qualified as a Run Leader with England Athletics! 👏
We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Sandra to our fabulous team of volunteers. Thank you for stepping up to help guide, encourage, and inspire our members.
Our club simply wouldn’t be the same without our volunteers who give up their time to help others enjoy their running journey.
Congratulations!

A huge shout out to Lesley on her incredible return to running!
Coming back from injury is never easy. It takes patience, determination, and the courage to keep showing up when progress can feel slow. But Lesley has done exactly that.
Not only has she made her return, she’s come back stronger than ever, recently bagging a new PB at Selby parkrun and then going on to absolutely smash the Castleford 10K!
Injuries can test both body and mind, but Lesley has put in the hard work, stayed consistent, and trusted the process. The results are there for everyone to see.
We’re incredibly proud of you, Lesley. Here’s to enjoying the miles again, building on that fantastic form, and celebrating many more achievements to come! ❤️🖤
Check out Striders on TV … being interviewed at Castleford Tigers supporting Sir Kevin Sinfield in his 7 in 7 challenge!

A huge congratulations out to Pete and Amanda, who took on the spectacular Loch Ness Marathon yesterday!
They were treated to stunning Scottish scenery, rolling Highlands, breathtaking views, and of course, the full Scottish weather experience thrown in for good measure!
After conquering the miles, they were rewarded with what may well be the real reason people enter... plenty of Baxters soup at the finish line!
The only thing missing? A sighting of Nessie herself! 👀🦕 Despite covering 26.2 miles around her back garden, the elusive local celebrity clearly had other plans.
Fantastic effort from both of you on a challenging and beautiful marathon. Enjoy the well-earned recovery and all the bragging rights that come with it!
